Canadian here. Just to underscore how this booing of the US national anthem is such a huge indicator of how hurt and appalled we are, I offer this: in recent years past, during a few hockey games where the sound equipment glitched and the singer’s mic cut out during the singing of the US anthem, the entire crowd jumped in and belted out the Star Spangled Banner. Canadians, singing your anthem, on Canadian soil, proudly, as your closest friends. So, ya, the booing is a big deal.

I always found the fact RFK Jr had a worm munching on his brain, and the worm died, weirdly symbolic of how seriously his views should be taken.

I heard one commenter call Vance "Vladimir Futon" and that was pretty damned good.

The first thing a cult leader does is alienate cult members from their friends & families.

One of my friends is an emigrant from Russia. This is how he says it begins.

Hi, Russian here. I recognize this feeling of being powerless. Watching the horrors unfold, knowing that even though they'll come for you too, you're somehow an accomplice.

I don't have any encouraging words. It didn't get better for us. I honestly don't know what we or you could do to change anything. I don't know if it is or ever was possible.

It was the self-pitying whining that was the worst. “Me and Vlad went through hell by being accused of things we did!”

I'm glad my dad's not alive to witness this. I grew up in a military, deeply patriotic, household, to the point where, I got accepted, but ultimately refused to go to Annapolis. Now I find myself proud to see Canadians booing the national anthem. Trumps actions are unconscionable, and I'd be extremely conflicted if I were an officer in the military now. My Dad, who was also an officer, always preached to do the right thing when no one is looking. He preached to stand up for the little guys who can't defend themselves, and now we find ourselves with a bully wannabe dictator as president. It completely offends everything I thought this country was, and I'm happy to see the other western leaders stand up and say "If America won't be the leader we thought you were, then we'll happily take over".

I’m singing the Canadian National anthem at an NBA game tonight and could not be happier. I don’t blame anyone for booing ours, we deserve it.

Hey! Canadian here. For what it’s worth, we know that the administration does not represent the majority of your people. Even many of those that voted in his favour seem to be waking up in light of how insane things have gotten, and how quickly. Y’all don’t pay much attention to our politics (because they’re boring) but we pay as much attention to yours as you do, because we have to. We’re still rooting for the best of you and hoping for a tide change. Please know that we’re not booing your people at the games, just the clown and his circus.

I suppose my only hope at this point is that we don’t go out with a whimper but with a burning rage against the machine.

Disabled, here (autism). I have a strong sense of justice; seeing the USA become the bad guy, and knowing that I'm a citizen of not only the big bad but also that the big bad would dance on my grave if it meant they could get the meager couple hundred bucks I get for being on welfare, is a gut-punch.
I thought the biggest gut punch was that my own father voted for this (three times) and still justifies it; but I think having to come to terms with the fact that I'm now in danger, and am living in a country which has turned into an evil entity, is right up there.

I'm also rooting for other countries to take our place; I was happy when I saw the EU leaders stepping up to support Ukraine after dumb & dumber ganged up on Zelensky like a couple of overgrown playground bullies. I'm rooting for Canada to go forward with tariffs on things like TESLAs (as I've been hearing) and to hit us hard with their counter-measures (Mexico, as well).
I was preparing for the tariffs, and even plans of cutting welfare programs (as per Project 2025), and even to have my own father vote for that to happen. I wasn't prepared for our country to go full-on evil...no, worse; to be traitorous scum to its allies.

The first time I heard our anthem being booed I had both tears AND a burning rage. Not at the Canadians for the booing, but at the current leadership for making it deserved. I keep TRYING to watch the news, but it keeps devolving to me shouting to an empty room and my tablet of how brain-breaking it all is.

...my cats are concerned. 😳

I know how it is to be living in a country that is on wrong side of history. I was born in Serbia, and lived to see ethnic cleansing and war. Then I fled to a better country, and I can tell you - the scars remain. I still feel ashamed of what happened in my name, although I was actively fighting against it and had nothing to do with it.

Blaming the Ukraine for risking WW3 sounded exactly like blaming the Polish for starting WW2.

Trump has been a positive in Canada in one way. The Conservative party, which once had a 20 point lead in the upcoming federal election, have seen that lead evaporate and will likely lose said election. And that's a good thing.

They act like trans people get different training from the rest of the military…🤷🏾‍♂️🙄 I stand with the LGBTQ Community 🏳️‍🌈 and celebrate their sacrifice for our country.

I'm from Denmark. We didn't just see the US as friends.
We fought alongside you in your war in Iraq. Even though many of us didn't believe the WMD lie we still supported you, because we're not fair-weather friends.
Per capita, we suffered the highest casualties of any coalition member in your war in Afghanistan.
And now your President wants to take over Greenland, part of the Danish Realm, and he won't rule out using military force?
Shame on you.

You missed one. Years before they were clutching pearls about gays in the military, they used the same arguments against women in regular military units.

Right now I'll take a bad day in Canada over a good day in the US.
