I just returned from a 5 day trip. Although the half open parks was very odd, I gotta say that the “forced” chill and half days were pretty great. No go go go in the morning and we always were able to enjoy the pool and have a drink. Not the Disney I’m used to but it was pretty damn great

I rode Rise of the Resistance this morning and it was awesome! I am not sure if this was a today thing or a normal occurrence but it was my impression that international gate would be open by 9 am. By 9:35 am it was still closed and we had to walk/run to Hollywood Studios to make it before 10:00 (we literally scanned our magic bands at 9:58 am) instead of riding the skyliner like we meant to do. Also my phone froze. My spouse got boarding group 3 just as I was about to start sobbing at my non-functioning phone. So if you are staying in the Epcot area do not assume the skyliner will be available to you very early in the morning for the purposes of arriving at Hollywood Studios before 10 am and if you are trying to ride rise with several adults or teens with phones download and pre-set the My Disney app (make sure everyone riding is added to everyone’s accounts) in as many phones as you have available just in case. The ride is really extraordinary and the whole of Galaxy’s Edge really impressed me. Walking around I very often felt like I was a tourist somewhere else just leisurely strolling around rather than it feeling like a themed land in a park - and the Ronto Wrap... I mean I am definitively having another one later today.

So, when it comes to little sleep for Disney I've always try to aim for good 8 hours of sleep. (Getting up early be damn) But if you gotta get up early for whatever reason, I use the advice I swear to for doing conventions 5-2-1 (5 hours of sleep, eat twice a day and 1 shower)

Having watched many of the opening daze, I'm a bit overwhelmed with all that's changed, and that many not get their money's worth. Especially because many rides seem to be down, even if you do have a boarding pass. Lesser crowds but nothing seems to make sense, and the joy factor is also less.

Our family trips from Wisconsin were enjoyable due to our passing through the "rights of passage" during our two children growing up.
We lucked out!
Our honeymoon '93, trips in '08 and '10.
Easy to plan, a lot less $'s, less restrictions, less focus on rides, less crowded
and more polite park goers.
