Configuring a file server failover cluster running Windows Server 2008 R2

1. Prepare

- DC18 : iSCSI server , IP 10.0.0.18 | WIN1091 : Client

2. Step by step : Configure iSCSI server on DC18 and assign to DC2, DC3. Configure Failover Cluster on DC2

- DC18 : Configure iSCSI server

- DC2, DC3 : Active disks

- DC2, DC3 : Install File Server and Failover Cluster

+ Server Manager - Manage - Roles - Add Roles - Next to Roles : Select "File Services"

- Features : Select "Failover Clustering" - Add Features - Install

+ Features - Add Features - Features : Select "Failover Clustering" - Install

- DC2 : Configure Failover Cluster

+ Start - Administrative Tools - Failover Cluster Manager - Right-click "Failover Cluster Manager" : Validate Configuration...

- Select Servers or a Cluster - Browse... : DC2, DC3 - Next to Finish

+ Right-click "Failover Cluster Manager" - Create a Cluster... - Browse... : DC2, DC3 - Cluster Name : File, Address 10.0.0.200 - Finish

+ Right-click "Services and applications" - Configure a Service or Application... - Select "File Server"

- Client Access Point : Name : FileServer, Address 10.0.0.100 - Select Storage : Check to "Cluster Disk 2"

+ Right-Click FileServer - General tab : Select DC2, DC3 - OK

+ Right-Click FileServer - Add a Share folder - Location : - Browse... - F$ - Share name : DATA - Create

- WIN1091 : Test Failover cluster. Start - run - \\FileServer\DATA === Create a file text

- DC2 : Shut down === Check again === Active on DC3
