I wish this actually existed. Imagine being a med student and developing illness anxiety disorder. The irony. It’s me. The irony.

Top tier hypochondria is when you’re trying to calm yourself down but then you get the thought “but what if I’m ignoring REAL signs that something’s WRONG by trying to calm myself down?!?!”

I like that the calls get more efficient with the seniority of the patient.

We really really need a helpline like this. I had developed a ganglion cyst over my wrist and i was thinking crazy for a couple of days until i asked the orthopedic surgeon about it.

This would be SO relieving for med students if this actually existed! Imagine the improvements in mental health this could cause!

I need this, but for vet students! I have been "diagnosing" my pets with all kinds of stuff in the last 3 1/2 years

I actually knew a med student who panicked about a weird mark on his skin, he asked a dermatologist and it was actually cancer. He is fine now thankfully.

My MSOD Hitline was my mom, a nurse. She did great. I once developed severe vertigo after studying the vestibular system and thought I had an intercranial tumor masking as a benign paroxysmal positional vertigo since my feeble amounts of repositioning didn't help.

Mom said I just forgot to eat and drink that day as I always do when big exams were impending and made me eat hot salty soup. Mom was right.

Last year in my first year of medical school my friends and I would all joke about having “intern syndrome”. One girl swore she had fibromyalgia, another thought she had appendicitis when she was just constipated… etc.
At the time I was starting to feel dizzy when I stood up, my heart would start racing. I figured I was also suffering from intern syndrome and it was just anxiety. We were in our cardio unit ironically….
Well they figured out pretty quickly that I have POTS syndrome so that’s fun! I then developed Gastroparesis… turns out i have ehlers danlos syndrome… something we learned in our first unit in med school… what are the odds?! Lol!

Love this hotline video its so true!!

I really feel this. Not a doctor, but I worked in a pathology lab at a large hospital for 18 years and saw tons of different kinds of tumors come through, some quite rare. With every new ache and pain I was convinced I had one of those horrible tumors. That anxiety still comes through even though I no longer work there.

My dad was never able to finish getting his LPN due to the costs, but i am greatful to have him, as he is basically this for me. I have anxiety and a lot of health problems already. Though im not always this spesific with what i think is wrong, he has been able to talk me down from panic attacks, and help reassure me so i could calm my nerves on my own. Sometimes when anxitey kicks in, the logical side of my brain shuts off, even though i may kogicalylyy know i am fine, im already feeling the panic and cant stop it, so having him tell me i am fine has been very helpful at times.

The bright and brief “Hi!” sounds like a real fulltime helpline worker…

Honestly, they actually need this for hypochondriacs that aren't apart of the medical industry.
