Tyrant Dragon Animation - Unreal Engine 5.4

Little practice of a gliding and wing flap dragon! I did the animation in layers so i can switch them seamlessly with keys between the layers, also added a roar for more fun!

What an absolutely gorgeous design and colour scheme. Love that it was inspired by Drogon; the GOT dragons (and now HOTD) truly have the most incredible dragon designs in all media, in my opinion. Love this one.

Some really minor notes, if you look at birds and other flying creatures, their head barely moves when they fly--it's like they have a plane stabilizer. This lets them see everything around them even though their body is moving up and down with the wing beats. I believe a dragon would probably do the same thing when it was just flying on the level and not actively climbing or anything.

But on the other hand, your wingbeat is one of the most convincing and realistic I've ever seen, honestly in awe.

I love how realistic he is! I spend a long time being generally disappointed by the tiny wings people seem to be obsessed with. In this however, the wing are absolutely perfect!! Only since I feel I have to though, the only possible thing that you could have done better on is pushing the wings down with more force. I cannot physically find anything else!!!! This makes me so so so so happy :)

Well nice I was the 1000 like. This looks stunning, could differently see this in a movie. So realistic, the movement is honestly spot on, you can tell the weight of the creature with the way you've animated them here, the individual scales moving and finally the way the wings moving like it's taking this creature true pressure to move each muscle. It's fantastic well done.

The only suggestion I could make is to maybe alter the angle a little on the down wing beats. Flying animals are sort of scooping the air down and back to generate speed/lift instead of gliding. It’s almost right but a slight tweak of the dragon’s “wrist/thumb” angling slightly more forward. Like put out your arm to the side straight and look and slightly rotate your wrist to and arm say 45-55 degrees that the thumb is pointing slightly more down and the fingers are spread to “scoop” at the air.

Great animation! This is such a long shot, but would you be willing to share an alembic or fbx cache of the anim to use for fx tests?? I've been trying to find some good dragon anim to use for some cloud interaction and a little fire. This could work well for maybe both and it could potentially be good for both our reels. -Thanks! 🙃
