The whole world loves Ringo, because he’s not full of himself and because he’s a really great drummer who doesn’t try to set the kit on fire, plays the songs. He’s a pro.

Pay very close attention all you young musicians and all you young drummers out there. This is a huge clue about why the Beatles were so damn huge.
When asked about his listening to other drummers, Ringo responds, "I never listened to the drummer. I listened to the whole thing." This from a man who said that the only thing he ever wanted to be was a drummer.
In the whole Beatles catalog you'll NEVER hear any of the four Beatles attempt to stand out from the others in any song they ever played. Not one of them ever attempted to stand out above the others. When they played it was always about the music and NOT themselves and that's what made each of them great musicians and why Ringo is considered a great drummer. The music always came first.
It was never about "how can I make myself look great". They always thought, what can I do to make the song great.

The Beatles is the greatest band of all time no question best singers, best songwriting, most creative and best production. You can’t go wrong with George Martin.

I think it was Ringo's persona as much as his skills with the sticks that got him into The Beatles - his personality was much more suited to the witty, sarcastic, and winsome Beatles than Pete; I think technically Pete was good enough to play with them - after all, he was with them for three or four years, but, was maybe not quite the entire package to fit the whole Beatles image. I believe he got a substantial payout from The Beatles Anthology CDs and accompanying book, which is only right as he contributed, as the drummer, to their early stuff before they hit it big. Interesting story - thank you for uploading.

Ringo ends the interview by saying that life is good. I hope he knows that the music he's left us has helped make life better than it would otherwise be for a lot of us. Thank you Ringo!!!

By the time Ringo joined the Beatles they were unquestionably bigger than the Hurricanes. The Beatles already had a record deal, and they asked Ringo to join because Pete Best wasn't cutiing it in the studio and George Martin wanted to use a session drummer.

It might have been a different story for ringo had he joined the searchers! The other drummer that approached his talent in the beginning was Chris Curtis and to my ears in the beginning…..best of.the two. He put a lot of pressure on ringo to compose and sing as we saw with his time with the searchers and solo wise. Even though Chris became a civil servant in England, his talent and compositions and a founding member of roundabout better known as deep purple wil never be forgotten. Saint and searchers in my opinion typifies the Merseybeat song at its finest!

You've got one of the greatest interviewers in history interviewing arguably the most important living drummer and your half rate cameraman doesn't even have the skill to raise the key light enough to keep the reflection out of his glasses. First year first day film students might do better. wow.
