Top 10 Beginner Tips | Ark: Survival Evolved

This beginner's guide covers navigation, spawns, stats, dinos, gear, upgrades, and more! These are the tips I'd give you if we were talking face-to-face. I spent a ton of time thinking about the most useful tips and tricks to share with Ark newcomers and I hope I was able to explain them properly.

PAINT YOUR STORAGE: color coding storage boxes is super easy and adds useful color to your base. Also, colors load faster than signs and names. ^_^ I call my storage hall The Rainbow Road

6. Is a great tip in general, get an argentavis as soon as you have tranq darts and a longneck, build a trap and grab the first one you see of any level. Imo the argy is the biggest upgrade you can get followed shortly by the anky for metal.

I have a starting system I never diverge from, left to right, always in the same order. Please use it if it helps.

4 Cabinets, rare/items/resource/resource

5 Mort and pestle, narcotics/gun powder/gun powder/gun powder/gun powder + beaver damns for paste

5 Forge, metal/metal/metal/metal/metal + gasoline

1 smithy
1 fabricator

1 fridge
1 cryo fridge(5-10 pods)
1 generator

Skill points, 120), repeat until satisfied, I usually skip stamina a few times

Tames, trike(narcoberry), ptera(mobility), argy + anklo(metal/rock/flint/crystal), megalodon(oil/silica), much later a griffin(shoot from the air/fast and fun)

I use the crossbow until I get the sniper/shotgun + 200 rounds for each + flak armour, then I'm ready to explore caves as I build my supply of tranq darts for the longneck rifle to make taming easier.

After I collect some artifacts and pad my ammo supplies I start looking for high level rexes for boss fights.

I love to paint storage chests with an appropiate color ideally matching the contents. Even if that is not possible, you still can later remember: Stone is right from the second black chest from the left. Really easy to remember, especially if you set it up yourself. Nothing is worse then having a wall of chests with all the same color.

for tip 6:
if you have access to extinction or gen2, and know where to find them, get velonasaurs. in genesis 2, you have hln-a which lets you scan dinosaurs for stats that you want (mainly stamina, melee, and speed). they're ranged dinos that dont need ammo (they use stamina instead) and if you have it set to attack your target (and turret mode maybe), it doesn't lose stamina so you can get to a vantage point and shoot a dino you want to kill or get off of the velonasaur and set it to turret mode and then shoot your target with a bow or crossbow or maybe longneck.
they do heavy damage, and with a decent one and a nice vantage point, you can kill an alpha rex in less than a minute.
also, to enter turret mode you press c (but dont know what to press on xbox or ps4)

Dude... you're info and delivery are spot on!!! Ive played Ark since Early Access, and ready to start Lost Island in a 100 day challenge... just gotta brush off the cobwebs in my head on starting a new character. Good stuff... and yeah.. map markers have saved my butt more often than running away. Nobody wants to have to re-build their base because they cant find the first one... yeah.. guilty :)
