I think a common misconception is that if you’re gay or trans you are not Christian and you’re automatically going to hell. So people say that it’s “not a sin” to make a point that you can be lgbtq and also a Christian, when the fact is that it is still a sin. But yes, God still loves you and you are still welcome in heaven. Stealing is a sin. Lying is a sin. Everyone lies. People can lie and be Christian just as people can be gay and Christian. It’s recognizing the sun that is the key.

to be fair, there's a distinction between "being gay" and "practicing homosexuality."
in modern culture, "being gay" refers to your sexual inclinations, not the actions you take based on those inclinations. but Scripture only calls out the actions taken as being a detestable sin.
so in the modern context of the phrase, "being gay" wouldn't be sinful according to Scripture, but partaking in homosexual activity would be sinful.
