Santi, take your plastic engine cover off, put food directly on the engine. Nearly 20 years as a mechanic, as long as the juices stay in the foil you should be fine!

As a car guy I got two words, exhaust manifold. That is where you put the food to cook, wrapped in plenty of aluminum foil of course. As the exhaust manifold(s) can get so much hotter than the plastic covers on the engine. Also you can remove the plastic engine covers without issue, most are there for a reduction in engine noise.

A Food Theory Restaurant would use a dryer, a hot pavement, and a car to cook their food.

My mom was in the military and she tells me all sorts of stories about things you could cook on the engines of a jeep in the middle of a desert. I have 0 doubt whatsoever that santi will easily be able to cook a steak on a car engine.

If there is a drunken hamster behind all of these video ideas I wouldn't be surprised.

I worked with a driller who would make 5 star lunches for everyone and cook it on the rig's truck engine. He had meals like broiled scollops, baked potatoes and vegetables, other times he made Steak tips and corn on the cob. People would fight to get assigned to his rig because the food was so good. His recipies had the noprmal prep stuff, but the cooking instructions were like "cook for an hour and a half at 2200 RPM, then flip and reduce to 1500 RPM for 15 minutes.

Grilling on a car engine? Now that’s what I call a fuel course meal!

Very interesting theory!!! Now I'm wondering, since you are using convection heat instead of direct heat, aluminum wrap may actually be the reason your meat wasn't cooked. Aluminum wrap is actually acting as a heat shield. Maybe try parchment paper next time?

You gotta do it UNDER the plastic hood man.. that just was so obviously why it failed.. perhaps securing it under the plastic hood so it doesn't fall into anything? then it'd probably cook in an hour easy..

Remove the shroud from on top the valve cover. It literally has insulation on the underside to that prevent the heats from getting through. Also you're putting stuff on the air box and a fuse box. Those plastics are specifically meant to work like heat sinks and keep your fuses and relays from melting and the airbox is meant to get cooler external air into the engine

The mighty steak will never be left alone.
So long as this channel has breath, the sacred meat will be cooked on all there is, was, and will be…

I was nearly screaming at the screen for him to put the meat on the bloody exhaust manifold/turbo heatshield. It's right there I can see it everytime he has the hood open and probably the only thing getting hot enough in that Enginebay to actually cook something.

I don't know if you know this but there are actually containers made specifically for cooking on an exhaust called muffpots. Usually more for motorcycles. But if you can find an exposed exhaust heat shield in the engine bay, or the catylitic converter, it will cook or heat the food much more effectively.

We and our cats are huge fans of Jerika's editing work and we always keep an eye out whenever she's edited on one of the Theory videos! She's been showing up even more often in person on the Style Theory videos and it's made us really happy to see even more of her and her work across the channels!
