Instructions unclear. I now have 3 fireplaces. Still not sure how I went from water to gas. Helpful video though! I was explaining to my kid how to do this but didn’t have parts on hand to show him. Thanks for the help!

When I opened the ball valve two weeks ago after winter, it worked fine. Now no water at all comes out of it? The on-off handle outside seemed like it had to be turned really far out. Any ideas?

Nice video. Thank you for making & posting it. Question, kindly: ¿if installing a shut off for say, a cold supply line to my kitchen (basement) or laundry, does one absolutely need a drain on the ball valve? ¿Is a non-drain ball valve sufficient (compression fittings on both ends, of course)? (Want to isolate the supply line[s] so I don't have to use the main water valve when servicing the sink/laundry tub faucet). Thank you. (Hope you have time to answer my questions, please). Any comments most welcomed. Thank you again. tonyd\.

any reason you put the shutoff valve handle closer to the wall? do they make them in the other direction?

I know that less than 1” pipe length is not enough for Sharkbite push to connect. What is the minimum pipe length between wall and valve is needed for compression fitting ?

Quick tip for beginners - don’t use compression fittings and just go with shark bites. Lol thank me later

Only a ½ turn tighten a compression valve? I trust they work but also don't want to a) have them popoff from being too loose and b). Over tighten and have it crush and deform the pipe and make it leak, but only a half turn? I have some old compression water shutoffs under the sink that are seized and useless, I also have a leaky faucet to replace so may as well fix the shutoffs. Tons of copper and room running up to the old shut offs so bought two ¼ turn compression fitting shut offs because the style is way better than the old, but also bought two ¼ turn sharkbite shutoffs, all for copper to a braided line. I don't know which is better. We always use sharkbites for capping lines at work, I installed two at my sisters a decade ago with no issues, but still somehow feel the compression valves are the way to go. Anyone have input on which would be better? compression or sharkbite, same style ¼ turn shutoff valves.

..and if compression, only a ¼ish turn to tighten and it's set and forget?
