Thank you for the video. I’m ordering the tool. I had to replace 2 valves in the house. Couldn’t get one of the compression rings off, so I just reused it. Once the tool gets here, I’m fixing it the right way.

That tool is a serious must have for any professional plumber

I like the tool. I was wondering how that works. The fact that it pulls on the nut and braces against the face of the pipe is the simple genius part.

Shut off the water would be first, just saying

Usually, the nut and the ferrel don't have to be replaced.

Well that flawless looking nut and ferrow would be staying.
Pipe dope bro, pipe dope.

Thanks. I wondered how to get one off. I need to replace one in my bath and this showed up, wasn’t even looking.

We've ran into more problems removing the brass ring rather than leaving it on, also you absolutely need pipe dope to get that nut thread on enough threads

Actually you shut off water to the valve first so that you don't cause a giant mess

Also little pipe dope on the threads helps

I just remove the valve then I put Teflon tape on the ferrule ring and install the new valve...
No leaks...

When you replace the shutoff valve are you supposed to cut off the pipe or can you re-use the same pipe to put a new one on?

Why not install a threaded fitting and then the next person can replace the valve more easily?

The first thing you do is shut off water supply to the house! listening to this guy, will cause you to have a water loss if you go by his instructions.

I am messed up. I did your first step second step, but I think you missed a step. I have water going everywhere now. 😅

Wouldn't shutting off the water be the true first thing to do?

Is it possible to change de angle of the valve, just to loose the nut of the compression valve, turn the valve of 90 Degres and tighten the nut with the same sleeve? Is it dangerous to leak?

A suggestion for you maybe not show the video in mirror mode by doing it the way you're showing it it looks like you're tightening when you're loosening and loosening when you are tightening

pipe dope is it necessary? i had to tighten it pretty hard without it.
