Just discovered your channel and wanted to share my experience with rosacea.I have coeliac disease too and found the triggers for me are anything that is spicy, alcohol, citrus, cinnamon, some dairy products, coffee although I won't give that up! I have just recently started taking a probiotic supplement and it's literally slowed down my rosecea flares even can tolerate some sun now so it's worth considering as it heals the gut.

I’ve seen a lot of videos about rosacea but this was a neat twist with other options other than traditional treatments. Thanks Dr. Abby!

Good video, as you said there needs to be more research regarding rosecea. If doctors are handing out antibiotics, there seems to be a gut health connection and possibly a hormone or lack there of (estrogen) connection.

Hi Dr. Abby! Just discovered your channel today and subscribed 😁 I have roseacea and I was wondering if: Manuka honey works well for roseacea??

Dr. Abby, I really like CETAPHIL Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 20 (all mineral) to reduce redness. It's tinted and has chromium green oxides to reduce the appearance of redness. It also has caffeine and licorice extract which calm and reduce redness. Totally love this product for my rosacea!

Have you tried sente skin care? I believe the active ingredient is heparan (sp?) sulfate and it seems to be working really well for me. I didn't really want it to work because, ouch, the price. But I love it.

Yep, I agree. I think my rosacea is less agressive since I avoid gluten (I started avoiding it for other reasons, because I had autoimmune hyperthyroidism - now in remission). And since I'm avoiding all fragrance (except very minimal ''natural derived aromas'' in natural cosmetics, but not very high EO content and smelly), even a tiny layer of heavily fragranced commercial moisturizer starts burning like hell. Using sunscreen and keeping the skin moisturized without heavy occlusives has also helped :) Basically, a lot what you mention. I was here for the LED mask, because I am on the verge, to buy or not to buy haha.

Dr. Abby, thank you for an informative video on rosacea. Riversol, a "sensitive" skincare line in Canada, uses beta thujaplicin (hinokitiol, or red cedar) in products designed to help with redness. Is there research on its efficacy for rosacea? Are there other botanical derivatives that work well for rosacea-prone skin?

Thanks for the tips! I have rosacea (celiac, too 🙃) and found the tip of not sealing in active ingredients with an occlusive super interesting! I just checked my products and I have a moisurizer that includes “dimethicone, ” which is listed as an active ingredient. Is this an active I should be weary of layering under an occlusive while experiencing a rosacea flare?

I do see and improvement in my rosacea when taking magnesium, zinc, omega 3 and supplements for circulatory system. I am french, i dont think they are big in the us because i dont see any when i go to the us or look on iherb for example, its mostly Rutin or Vine extract. In france we have a lot of options for people suffering with bad blood circulation. I could give you the ingredients list if someone is interested, as far as i remember it has bromelain (anti inflammatory) Quercetin ( kind of anti histamin like) ginkgo biloba etc. so it makes sense because it also works to strengthen capillaries, we know that rosacea is also a problem of capillaries on the face that dilate and has a hard time constricting back. Few years ago i did the aip diet which is very restrictive but i saw a huge improvement in like a week, and it taught me a lot about my triggers. Now i know that every time i have a hard time digesting something and i keep having it for two or three days in a row, im gonna have a flare. For me, its a matter of quantity and quality of food. Example: Too much raw vegetables = bad digestion = flare. I got that same led mask as yours last july and it really makes a difference, i feel like it helps my face heal faster and be ready for the next day if that makes sense. I live in the south of france and summer is like hell for me, but it felt smoother with the mask. I read a study about topical green tea being a new treatment option for rosacea so i just ordered a korean serum and am about to try it 😁 currently im rotating around ivermectin, azelaic acid and adapalene ( this one once a week). Thank you for this video!!

Hey Doc can bananas trigger rosacea? Is this a known trigger? I noticed i do get flare ups from it. Also my doc recommended for me to take doxy 40mg once a day for 3 months. When I stop taking it will my rosacea return? Like what is it supposed to do within 3 months and is it expected to eliminate rosacea after 3 mos?

Would you say azelaic acid pills less when mixed with a cream before application?

And oh, please please make a video about rosacea on darker skin. It is a thing but no one really seem to care. And discuss the treatment options please.
