The ONLY Thing You Have To Do To Speak English Fluently

This is an important message for English language learners who CAN’T speak fluently…

You can do MANY of things to LEARN English…

Reading textbooks, studying flashcards and even watching videos right here on YouTube are just a few…

But only ONE THING actually helps you become a confident SPEAKER…

My name is Drew Badger, and before I finally became fluent in Japanese, I spent more than 10 YEARS FAILING to learn THREE different languages because I spent all of my time doing the WRONG things…

I did everything I could to learn grammar rules and memorize as many words as possible, but NONE of these things helped me SPEAK…

And it wasn’t until I was on a walk through a park in Japan…

When I stopped to watch some young Japanese children playing with their parents…

That I finally understood why I couldn’t express myself.

You see, there’s ONLY ONE WAY for very young children to become the great speakers they are since they CAN’T yet read or write…

And that’s by hearing UNDERSTANDABLE examples of their SPOKEN language from the people around them…

That’s ALL they’re doing!

Of course, children also REPEAT what they hear, but their only INPUT is UNDERSTANDABLE examples of their SPOKEN language…

NOT books, grammar tables, “spaced-repetition” apps or anything else…

And with JUST this ONE INPUT…

Children AUTOMATICALLY learn to use correct words and grammar WITHOUT thinking, develop their listening ability, improve their pronunciation, AND build fluency FAST!

When I discovered this at the park that day, I realized that hearing UNDERSTANDABLE examples of SPOKEN Japanese was the one thing I WASN’T doing…

And that’s the same for most adult learners of EVERY foreign language!

Really think about this for a minute…

While adults are STUDYING a language by learning grammar rules, reading books and reviewing vocabulary…

Native children are GETTING FLUENT with only UNDERSTANDABLE examples of their SPOKEN language!

This is why most adult foreign language learners KNOW a lot, but can’t express themselves…

While children SPEAK quickly and correctly, but can’t EXPLAIN the rules of their language!

Does this make sense?

So the lesson for us adult language learners is VERY clear…

If you want to SPEAK fluently and confidently, STOP STUDYING ENGLISH and spend your time with UNDERSTANDABLE examples of the SPOKEN language!

It’s really that simple, and that’s ALL I did to finally become fluent in Japanese!

Traditional English language learning classes and methods DON’T give you the ONE THING you really need to become a great speaker…

And that’s why it’s not your fault if you’ve struggled to get for many years, just like I did.

But you NOW have the choice to CHANGE HOW YOU LEARN so you finally speak!

Answer 5 quick questions and I’ll send you a FREE, PERSONALIZED guide that will help you start speaking more like a native TODAY!

It takes less than a minute, and you can download your free guide instantly!

Hi! I'm from Brazil and I've followed your channel for years, it really helps me a lot, so I'd like to thank you!

I've been teaching English as a second language for some years now and what I've noticed that those students who struggle with fluency are precisely the same ones that insist on translating everything from their their native language and vice versa. But those that create a new compartment for the new language become fluent quickly. It's all about destroying that bad habit of translating everything that some create from the beginning. And you gotta do it from the beginning cause long habits die hard.

Speaking English at home I face the problem that I don't know basic colloquial phrases, but can pretty easily express my opinion on a harder topic

Great video and great idea! Honestly, I'm getting tired of those lessons which are almost an anatomy class on the way we produce sounds. Of course you are right: parents never use that method with our small children, it has to be a natural process, not a living diagram!

Dear Drew, thanks for your great work teaching people be fluent in English!
You mentioned once how to practice discussing things at on-line groups (by hobbies or professional interests) like meetup.com and yahoo, but I've found only local groups. How can I join international ones? Thank you.

You have a point but with all due respect, I think children learn differently compared to adults. Most young learners learn English as their first language on the other hand, adult learners learn English as their second languange. This difference requires different approach as well. Nevertheless, I believe that consistently listening to clear and understadable English or any other languages and speaking to a fluent speaker are the best ways to become a fluent speaker. That's what I do. I listen a lot to my favorite British actor but I have no native speaker friend to talk to except my Chinese students. But, it is important to read and study grammar too. Anyway, your videos are really helpful. Thank you so much! (This is the longest comment I've ever written in Youtube.😁)

I agree with you, it is important to practice with natives.BUT we should not stop the grammar or the reading it will give us the support to interact with others. Thank you for your good work on YouTube.

Hello, i'm from Nicaragua, i've been speaking english for almost 3 years by now, i know a lot of vocabulary, i got a really good pronunciation, but my problem is that i speak super fast and almost no one follows what i say, so, how can i overcome that situation?
What should i do in order to get a better accent and fluency speaking without speaking fast?
