Can you think of any more words in English that have 2 different pronunciations?

Thank you Hadar for addressing the fact that native English language speakers don't pronounce many words the same way. There are many on line YouTube English teachers who insist that the only acceptable pronunciation is the one that they prefer. These language authoritarians have programs that are addressed mostly to ESL students who have no way of knowing that the English language has really never had the concept of "The correct pronunciation". To be sure there was once the concept of the "Standard Pronunciation". These were the pronunciations used by highly educated speakers and for announcers whose voices would be heard nation-wide. The only way to secure these pronunciations was to look them up in a book that nowadays is used in American schools exclusively as a merely decorative item: The Dictionary.

Fun fact. There is a verb in hungarian spelled "hadar". We pronounce it like Hadar's name. When someone speaks fast and under pronounces the words we say they "hadar" 😅

A few more: apricot, vase, and of course tomato and potato (last two maybe not as much here in the U.S.?). Hadar, I have used several of your videos in the ESL classes I teach. I love them!

I found you looking for the pronunciation of Worcestershire and you were great. I'm glad I have permission now to say gif as jif because it always sounded better to me, but I thought the proper way was gif. Also, can you please let people know that they sound stupid to people from Nevada when they pronounce it like Ne vah' duh?

Add one more: "Char" with "ch" sound vs "Char" with just "c" like "car"😂

I often notice the words employee and television being pronounced two different ways with different stresses: em PLOY ee with the stress on the second syllable and em ploy EE with the stress on the last Syllable. TEL e vi sion with the stress on the first syllable and
tel e VI sion with the stress on the third syllable.

I love this subject. I choose the cuter ones. Or fun to speak. I choose Data because of Star Trek.

For a very common word like "often", would you say it depends on the State (US) or is it somehow almost randomly used?
