I played the original FS up to FSX, then onto FS2020. For me, what I remember most about FSX - and by a long margin - is the unique and classic missions. They really connected you to the sim/game. I was/am disappointed nothing similar was included in FS2020 (landings & tours don't count, lol). Now we know why - they kept that aspect for a separate 'gamer' focussed product. This is excellent news and will gladly support MS/Asobo again when it's released.
However, I 100% don't want to install another massive download. They must make sure that as well as a separate product (FS2024) for new gamer folk, they also include it's functionality as a downloadable update to FS2020...and at a discounted price.

My only worry is that can my pc handle another sim.

Great update! Very interesting how the developers were all so in the dark.

Where did all the footage in the background come from?

great to hear the 3rd party viewpoint, thanks for gathering that from the multitude of places it will appear! The interesting one from my perspective was DC Designs, where their post basically said "we're telling you all this, you read between the lines" implying they've been tapped on the shoulder for the A10, which will be great !

Nice compellation of feedback from the 3rd party devs. Don't think anyone has put that together in one place yet - and it's good to hear what the developer community is saying. I think that's helping to quell the anxiety in the community right now. Thanks for the update!

I’m interested to see the hardware requirements to run the new sim. Especially from a GPU standpoint.

Wondering if this is a new engine than the original. It would explain many things if it was.

Great news that the 2020 addons will cross over. I'm going to be honest though, I don't see much support for MSFS 2020 after the release of new gen 2024 sim, my reasoning is that the market for Flight Sims is niche and tends to be a mature market meaning that most current users will have the funds and means to upgrade to the new MSFS 2024 version upon release, leaving little reason to keep supporting the old version properly or at all. I'm excited and eager to see the new 2024 sim :)

Why is the download speed very slow or is it my internet connection?

The one thing im worried about is that the 2024 version of msfs will be lets say more like a game than a sim to get more casuals on board. Apart from that i dont mind forking out for a new game i mean sim;)).

Will there be a discount for existing FS2020 users?

Did you get a phone call at 6:53? I can feel it where my tablet is resting on my arm

Thanks for getting the input of the developers! To me, their voice is even more important than Microsoft's. They are the main reason this simulator is attractive to people who actually know something about aviation. On a related topic, I know nothing about helicopters, but I noticed at 1:50 in this video, when the helicopter is being shown on the platform, its tail rotor is slowly turning backwards, IE it's spinning trailing edge first. It's going slow, so my assumption would be that it's windmilling in the breeze, like the fan on a turbofan engine, but I'm curious if helicopter tail rotors actually do this? I'm rarely around helicopters, but I've never seen a tail rotor turn on its own, other than immediately after shutdown for a short time. If they can windmill, would they ever turn backwards? You know, looking at the video again, the main rotor is also turning but it's going in the correct direction which makes me think the depicted scenario could never happen since the tail rotor is connected to the engine via a shaft-drive, but not sure what kind of clutching might be involved there. This makes me wonder about the prop and rotor wash model in the new sim being different (or not existent) vs MSFS2020. Could the entire trailer, or at least parts of it, be nothing more than an "artist's rendering" and not actually "in-game footage" as the video captions state? Yes, I'm a conspiracy theorist! :-)

Interesting comment from DC Designs, more than one content creator has suggested the planes in the trailer are existing planes possible updated for this sim although that's just conjecture. Anyway my take from this is that while these developers didn't know about this release, no one seems particularly concerned and that's the way I feel as well. It will boil down to if you want the new sim or not, but your investment will be intact which is all good from my perspective.

I just had a thought…though I know it prob will not be implemented. If they incorporated actually passengers that board and deplane and react to the way you fly. For example if you have a hard landing one or two of them may scream or if you have a very smooth Landing they may clap with the option to turn the feature off (could get annoying after a while)

People have massively over reacted to this news. Asobo still promises to support 2020 going forward. Almost everything will still work, and you DO NOT have to buy 2024 if you don't want to. Lot's of people were still using FS2004 when MSFS 2020 dropped!
