Every ethical dilemma needs to be resolved and to resolve complex moral dilemmas, philosophers have developed theories that prescribe a way out of ethical dilemmas.

There are 3 popular prescriptive approaches to ethical decision-making. They are:
- Duty-based decisions
- Virtues as guides to action
- Goal-oriented decisions

In today's video, I will explore the three approaches mentioned above. These ethical decision making approaches will come in handy while answering case study-based questions and will also help while studying “determinants of ethics" in section A of GS IV (Ethics).

I feel the part regarding asking the right questions to oneself is a critical component of understanding the dilemma and self monitoring.

Thank you so much sir for your efforts. Just a follow up question to this case study: How to go about to find solution to this case study? Do we have to go with one approach only or can we combine two approaches like duty approach + value based approach.
