She did really well staying calm. I've been there and it's the worst. When I was 16, and learning manual for the first time (I already had my drivers license), I would borrow my mom's manual vehicle, and practice stopping and going on a very steep hill. Since we lived in a very small town, I didn't have to worry about other cars much. I would put rows of pine cones behind my back tires to keep track of how far back I'd roll. I learned really quickly since I didn't have the pressure of other traffic or someone trying to instruct me.

This is actually every manual driver obstacle😂but sometimes if you don't think about it too much it goes smoothly😂anyway, this is the fun of manual

Sharon is the king of rational thinking!
Staying calm and not just acting calm for the instructor is probably the most difficult thing to learn as a driver because once you panic there’s no way you’ll be able to fix the issue on your own, and if you’re not used to knowing what is wrong and what is right you’ll naturally go into panic mode😂😂
SO GOOD JOB, SHARON!!

She did well taking a second to think of what her mistake was and how to get moving properly and stay calm. Good on her 👍🏻

She did really well. If she’d just got into first at the junction, she would have nailed it. Brilliant that she stayed calm and dealt with the situation. 👍👍

I loved learning in my instructors mini. Everytime I stalled the engine will start automatically:) and the clutch was so easy.

Soon as I bought my first car, it wasn’t easy to begin with and I stalled blocking a dual carriageway 😭😭

My instructor took me to a lot of places with hills and had me do them at the start of every lesson till I mastered them and no longer feared them. I still don’t like doing them but i know I can do them which is the best feeling :) I always cheered myself on when I successfully did them 🤣

Well done Sharon you handled that pretty well. I used to hate hills so much when learning!

I don't care that people say it makes it less of a pure driving experience, but hill hold is such a terrific feature and I love my subi for it.

Stopping in second is better than first depending on your car but on a hill when your approaching fast enough 2nd will help you slow down to a perfect stop. My first gear is extremely short and sensitive

I learned to drive manual in a car that had a very very bity clutch with no room for error. It was a very sudden car to drive and took alot of getting used to.

After about a year i ended up driving my sisters manual for a couple of months, which was the complete reverse and was a dream to drive and was so hard to stall!!!

Then when i went back to my car it was alot easier to drive as id learned a different car and it was just easier to control after that experience.

Manuals take alot of time to learn! They are anything but easy

Thats a nightmare for any beginner even when I got my license I avoided hills for weeks and I went training myself near my house like stoping on hills until I got the hang of it

I feel her pain. Failed my first test, because I rolled back, then stalled on a hill start. X
