Fez Review and the Phil Fish Controversy.

A quick look into the recent Phil Fish Controversy and a short and sweet review of Fez. Fez is a beautiful game and is a one that has people either love or hate the game. I feel that a lot of harsh comments fly its way which are aimed more for its creator. Yes Fish is Rash and fast to react to online comments but i don't believe this is a reason to completely hate Fez and believe people need to look at it with an open and unclouded mind.

Its only a few bob on steam or XBL. its such a nice little game to play about on and its incredibly adventurous.

.... But the style of a game is as i said the core concepts of the game and fez falls directly into a 2 platformer. you move left right up and down jumping on platforms in order to progress. Its not as if its a game with platfrorming sections within it, the whole game is based around platforming.

Im sick of all the Fish hate to be honest. Yes he is a bit of an asshole to people but really all he is doing is giving what he gets. We need to put a stop to these people who act like game developers owe them something, yea if you spend £40 $60 on a game then you don't want trash, but this guys spent 5 years working on a game that is little yet brilliant and didn't deserve all the crap he got.

But platforming is the base of the gameplay? if you are wanting to expand on genre theory you will have to expand on it much more than that. The idea that of genre is a means of simply categorising the true concepts of a form of media developed since ancient greece and at its core Fez is a platforming based puzzle game that falls into the action adventure section.

A few games do have concepts of each gaming style (such as plat-former, FPS etc) but can fall into different

so you would not say that a 2D side scrolling adventure game in which their is a lot of jumping for ledges is not a platformer? I understand it is a game based around exploration but it is still a platformer at its core.
