Ironically, nowadays most prefer Japanese games over most Western games, I hear. Heck, I still love old Nintendo, Sega, and PlayStation games over alot of modern games.

Success didn't get into his head, his ego got into his head. People would report bugs to him after the release of Fez and he took it as an attack on Fez or his ability to code because apparently he expected to release a game of 1000s of lines of code without a singular misstep/bug.

Also, I'm pretty sure BlueDrake is the most hated game developer now LMAO.

All the comments saying they hated him for having an opinion… hating someone is an opinion. If you voice an opinion, any opinion at all, there are gonna be some disagreements; he chose to quit game development because he couldn’t handle people’s opinions of him not the other way around

He was a troll. If I remember correctly he claimed to have cancelled fez 2 for receiving some hate. IMO that would make him a thin skinned, weak individual, but I think he just used the "hate" as an excuse and just didn't have it in him to finish the game.

Contrary to his words Japanese devs (outside of Nintendos horribleness) are actually ahead of everyone still amd make FAR better decisions expessially when it cones to how they treat their consumers. The only exception being (as stated) Nintendo and most gachas, but im pretty sure they list the odds of their gachas unlike western games :3

I watched Indie Game Documentary in 2014, and both Phil Fish and Tommy Refenes passed out as being two arrogant spoiled assholes. So this video doesn't come as a surprise. Then again, that must be the pressure of being a solo developer.
