When Fr. Peter Heers pointed out what falls under "Christian masculinity", my (god willing) future Husband came directly to my mind. He embodies Christian masculinity to the last cell of his being. I have never met such a selfless person who sacrifices everything for his family, his faith, and me. I am so grateful to have met someone like him.

An idea to OE: book on Orthodox masculinity and feminity would be good. Maybe using different authors for different chapters? Everything from general subjects of masculinity and feminity to singlehood, courtship, homemaking, vocation, being an Orthodox sibling, daughters, sons etc..

as a woman, I think that masculinity is being a Christlike meaning calm in crisis, compassionate, protective and everything you said, in the video, which is to lay down sacrifices, as Christ would want for us to do for our neighbors; and as he created man to biologically be born strong 🤍and I think true femininity is to be nurturing, caring, meek with gratefulness and serve those around us, like our most holy Theotokos🤍🤍🤍 there is much sacrifice to be expected on a woman's end, but it comes differently. It comes from carrying the world's children and raising them🙏🏻 I think that this sacrifices that both men and women should make or a blessing on their own.

Saint John 15:13
Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

As a man, I fully agree. Royal path in masculinity also, with the cardinal exception of being feminized in any way. Unfortunately these days, we are witnessing a state of distortion of our best virtues, which have gradually been hijacked by the effeminate over many years and decades even. The net effect of all this is that we as men have a greater struggle than just the previous generation of our fathers and grandfathers, but one thing I can advise brothers is try to be charitable and humane at all times, though be watchful at all times and safeguard that last resort of brutal, swift self defense.

Actually, I take my original comment back. You haven't actually begun to define masculinity here, father. But I also await your video short about FEMININITY too. What makes a good woman? Please inform us!

God bless, and I fully agree... There are many examples, but I've always viewed stoicism, or that philosophical mindset, as a true embodiment of balanced masculinity. Thinking back to Marcus Aurelius and his Meditations, or Seneca the younger and his discourses; as far as earthly wisdom goes at least.

I usually think of St. Anthony the Great as a true example of masculinity. It's easy to see the difference between him and let's say Andrew Tate.

Thank you for saying this. There’s some scary rhetoric coming out of the so-called “masculine revival” camp.

Very interesting content. Masculinity can be indeed perverted. Everything can be perverted. One can use a knife to cut bread, but one can also use a knife to kill. I think that the same applies to masculinity. One can use masculinity to defend the Church and its territory and take care of his family for example, but one can also use it for criminal purposes. I think that it all depends on the context. The Orthodox church also venerates war leaders as saints, for example: Aleksandar Nevsky, Tsar Lazar Hrebeljanović, etc. Lets not forgot other biblical examples of very masculine men, as Samson, or kind David who waged many wars. If you believe in God and follow the true religion which is Orthodoxy, then masculinity will be used according to Gods will. But if you follow a wrong religion as Roman-Catholicism, Protestantism or Islam, then everything will be corrupted, even masculinity. Only within Orthodoxy masculinity is sanctified!

Christ stayed calm during the storm while all his disciples panicked. Staying calm in the midst of chaos is how I define Christian masculinity. When others see your steadfastness it calms those around you.

There is no greater example of masculinity than our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I agree Father. I often see so many on the right who focus on the wrong masculine traits and neglecting that masculine men can also have a soft side that they show to family and people close to them. That they have both the drive to improve and the drive to bring others with them.

Both the drive to be successful in business but also a drive to build healthy families and showing them love and affection.

Extreme stoicism doesnt help. Extreme emotionalism doesnt help. We must follow the middle path and not put every man into the same "one size fits all"
Every man is called to be a Saint for Christ. But how that man becomes a Saint is different for each man.

Glory to God for allowing us to express these things in proper context while also maintaining the true distinctions of Masculinity and Femininity.

Other than the Bible, I’d look to my favorite superheroes, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings for being masculine. They’re selfless, go through hardship, loving, strong, self-sacrificial, kind, and gentle.

So true. Just remember the Eastern Romans who condemned the bAsED weStErn CrusADer WarRior SpiriT as bloodthirsty, evil. Remember this because, these Eastern Romans were not wooses; their military was extremely accomplished and formidable

Can you please add further examples of how to be a Christian warrior. (I am looking for earthly examples, because the pagans and Satanists are coming for us Christians.)

As a man you should have the ability to be a savage when called upon.. and at the same time be as meek and gentle as a lamb.

In my opinion there is no one way or the other. A masculine man will always display the virtues of courage, strength, mastery, and honor.. the only question is, does he submit to God in humility and love and protect those around him or will he pridefully serve himself.
