Wow!! This gives words to what my husband and I have been seeing for years. Keep giving language to the people who are stuck in the lies.

I appreciate his take on masculinity 🎉 I think he nailed it on that one, but I am not satisfied with "stop worshipping sex" as the solution for a poor sex life. I don't think most religious couples treat sex as a deity. They probably just want a better sex life than the poor one they are stuck with. The solution is indeed complicated, but I think doing enough exploration before marriage (doesn't have to be premarital sex) and communication with ur partner to check sexual compatibility is definitely a must for people that are dating. And u would avoid having to do all that "self-sacrifice" to deal with libido mismatch within marriage.

Overall, he’s not saying anything different than the purity culture of past. He’s just repackaged the message to reflect today’s culture and language. I hear him subtlety blaming his own shortcomings on the old purity culture, rather than understanding it was a guide for sexual purity without the promise of a perfect sexual marriage. This is life, the best Christian books man writes can’t promise things will be perfect if you do x, y and z.
