I ve checked few other videos. There was actually a reporter who put the racket under his foot, and banded it with his hand. It is crazy. How much hate could drive a reporter do this.

International olympic committee should investigate the incident in detail, especially the cameraman and people behind him!

Imagine if a reporter breaks a javelin, a shoe, an F1 car or whatever. That's absolutely unacceptable from the organization.

Any higher-level table tennis player will say the same. No two bats will be the same even if you use the same rubbers and blade.

The feel of the racket even if its the same set up is diffrent, you can try your racket to be used by someone else rhen try to use it...the feel will be different ASAP. I used 3 identical blades before but the feeling was different from each other...specially d grip on d handle. Ttwnis is a very technical sport so a small difference will mean a lot

i am a table tennis player represent my school and i can be sure that spare racket make a big difference . racket can withstand heavy weight unless you broke it on purpose.

bro whoever that stepped on wang's racket definitely did it on purpose. I have rackets myself, and i can prove that they are really durable. I've stepped on mine once, but it never broke. The photographer definitely did it on purpose. And, people that say he's just blaming his racket, have you thought about how tired he would be after just winning the finals in doubles? It hasn't even been 24 hours and he already has to play another match. I know how different a racket feels when u switch, because i have 5 myself.
1. He probably was too tired since he just finished a finals
2. Rackets feel really different, and why would he know that his racket would be broken?
3. If his match was like 2 days after the incident, he probably might have time to train and get used to the new feeling
4. He probably had emotional damage and wasn't in his best state
I know that it was the rackets fault, but the fact that he doesn't blame it on the racket and says its his own fault is just being humble.

No one blames the paddle for his loss, but it certainly put pressure on WCQ in a high level international game. He’s young and immature in terms of game strategy and congrats to Truls, but he deserves justice if the paddle is deliberately stomped. It is THAT journalist’s malice that brought controversy to Truls’s victory.

Truls was just the better player today...Wang won 2 games easily but it was the overall creative and surprising play of Moregard he was not able to adapt bat was not the reason for the loss...

Zhang Yining had to switch to her secondary racket right before Olympic finals and still managed to win the match, and her secondary racket was poorly maintained. it "feels like playing with a shoe sole" according to her. After that incident I'm sure all Olympic participants learned the lesson and brought well-prepared secondary rackets. Liu Guozheng the ex-coach of WCQ confirmed that all national players nowadays use both their primary and secondary rackets regularly.

Before breaking WCQ racket, Truls lost to Wang 8 times in a row, during these 8 matches Truls won only 2 games.

Anyone who ever held a table tennis racket would know that a racket is not gonna break simply by stepping on it. It takes a lot of strength to break one like the Korean journalist did.

It's not an accident, according to lots of videos, people already found out it's Repoter 3488 is who did it on purpose. Wang put his racket in his luggage. But reporter 3488 took it out and brake the racket with his hand and foot.

sorry but since the grip is higher than the blade it is absolutely possible to brake or at least harm the paddle enough to break it by stepping on it. The layers are quite delicate as well.

and you call that a reporter? more of a criminal

Any broken table tennis bat also cracks the players heart.
Facts bros. 😢

All in all, the area Wang has put his bat in is the area specifically for coaches. Some interviewers went in to take pictures and one of them stepped on the bat….

Any of you, who are saying the racket doesn't matter play table tennis themselves? Even a blade with the same composition and even same weight plays a bit different. We're here talking about the absolut pinnacle of table tennis where every cm matters. And in the end there is the psychological component. Even the slightest doubt in your material makes you that ms slower, which decides between win or loose.
Playing 50:50 with two bats is also not an option. You're in the worst case 50% accustomed to one blade and 50% to the other.
