Respect to the pilot who flew that long in a tiny Cessna

That’s N490NW!!!! It was delivered to my flight school here on Oahu and I fly that plane all the time! We put a lei over the propellor when she was shut down to welcome her home. I got to watch them pull the AUX fuel tanks out and reinstall the interior the day after! It’s such a nice plane!! Best part, synthetic vision and cup holders lol

That seven-hour flight from Phoenix to Honolulu last January made me crazy. Eighteen hours would make me climb outside and sit on the landing gear.

"Hey thanks for delivering my plane! Wait, why's it smell like piss in here?"

The fact that there are 747 routes with the same destination. Truly incredible.

He had an additional fuel tank, which gave him 210 gallons of fuel along with some nice tail winds which allowed him to make it to Hawaii.

Respect to the pilot who had to swim back home

The fact Aaron takes the time for these videos for our entertainment. It is very nice. Keep up the great work Aaron!

This is somewhat common. They add portable fuel tanks. They don’t always make it. I was working on a container ship going from LA to Honolulu around the early 2000’s. One plane went down because they lost oil pressure. We were going to rescue them, but another ship was closer. Both pilots survived.

How the fuck can a cessna delivery from Cali to Hawaii take less time than my Amazon packages

Flying at night in a Cessna with space to move, no space to sleep, two tiny cockpit lights, only your flight instruments to trust as you can't clearly see the ocean.

Must've been fucking SCARY

I talked to a guy working at that airport when this aircraft was delivered, he said he got to take a look inside and supposedly the entire rear of the cabin of the aircraft was converted into a fuel tank with forward ballast to even out the cg, it was something crazy like 25% over MTOW

Seeing a bit of land must be a huge sign of relief

A Cessna 172 once flew more than 150K miles over 64 straight days before landing. It was from 1958 to 1959.

That's one hell of a flight to break in a craft and check for any mechanical issues

A Piper Comanche flew from Casa Blanca, Morocco to Los Angeles without refueling. Max Conrad was a legend.

That’s risky. Engine failure that far out would be catastrophic
