So this is not the actual preflight, I just did everything to record it. As you can see later in the video I was not the PIC(Pilot in Command) of the flight, the pic later did the whole preflight again before flying.

Remove pitot heat cover before you turn on the pitot heat makes cover last longer

I remember watching my dad do his preflight checks every time he would take me flying with him in his 172. He would take me and my friends every year for my birthday from 1980 to 86

That brings back memories. And that 172 is rough.

Such a classic.
The 172 is my favorite airplane of all time.

Probably the most reliable single prop aircraft ever built.

Just make sure to take the pitot cover off before turning on the pitot heat to check it. Plus you need it off to make sure the heating coils work.

Missed Checks:
-ARROW Paperwork
-Note Hobbs and Tachometer Time
-Fuel Level Gauges on Panel
-Fuel Levels using Tank-Stick
-Oil Level
-Inspect Engine Area for FOD/Nests
-Fuel Vent Obstruction
-Stall Horn Function/Obstruction
-Control Surface Hinges and Linkages
-Tire Pressures
-Nose Gear Strut Level/Pressure
-Remove Pitot Cover BEFORE Heat!
-Gascolator Dump/Inspect Sample
-Cotter Keys on Nose/Main Wheel Axle Nuts
-Propeller Nicks/Cracks
-Air Filter Obstruction
-Static Port Obstruction

Bro I check everything you did, plus this list above. It looks like a lot, but it's actually really fast and easy to do! Most of this is in your POH.

With almost all the certainty in the world, I say: the Cessna 172 will fly for another 70 years

Just a very cool video. You are so lucky to be able to fly

The 172 is a nice, little airplane. I once knew a couple of airline pilots who each had one. Both said the 172 was easy to fly.

The ignition keys should be placed on the dash where you can see them when you're doing the walk around, so you'll know they're not in the ignition switch and mags turned on. Safety first!!
