Keep my hands on the wheel now momma
Gonna honestly try
She looked past the scars and the burned out eyes
You could see I'm no easy ride
She's just the kind who might get you to buy
Some strange religion
This jack of diamonds kicked her heart around
Shoulda known they were walking on holy ground
This life might eventually just be the end of me, will I still be with you
Get in next to me, just keep driving
Cause of you I been alive
And this Buick's a Century, '73 like you
Some strange religion
The Buick's a Century, '73 like you
Some strange religion

Now this is even more haunting. Mark 's voice cuts to the bone all the time. RIP Mark Lanegan. Anthony and Mark sitting together again.

I miss you terribly Anthony. I've never left the States, but I traveled the world with you. Thank you... And honestly damn you at the same time. We weren't ready to lose you. I desperately wish you were still here. Rest easy, man. LOVE. from Hollywood.

So haunting, so beautiful. I had an uneasy feeling when I saw this episode. In hindsight you can see Bourdain winding down.

This segment is wonderful like this ... a standalone video. However, watched at the conclusion of his terrific Seattle installment of "Parts Unknown" - it's just perfect. I live in Seattle - and the episode was pure gold for my wife and me. I don't think he particularly liked Seattle ... but he treated us well in the end - a quirky but respectable enigma amongst many encountered in his travels. There can't be a voice to pair with Bourdain that is musically and lyrically more fitting than Mark Lanegan.

Whatever demons may have been chasing him, I trust he is at peace now.

Still creepy sad watching it now, on a TGiving rerun marathon. That song is so great, too. RIP Tony. You are def missed. A lot.

I had no idea there was a Bourdain episode that featured Mark Lanegan, looks like I have some homework to do. I'm curious about this use of "Strange Religion, " it sounds quite different from the version on 2004's "Bubblegum" album. That's such an iconic image, a man sitting alone in a bar with a drink while Lanegan sings his uniquely bent version of the blues. I must see this episode.

Having to see this episode last month and listening to this song put me in a sad and deep thinking mood. I loved listening to Anthony's thoughts and perspective on what he experienced and felt. I still miss him very much especially when Iisten to this song.

I watch this from time to time, but don't share it with anybody. It's just that special.

One of the many best endings to part's unknown. Always has the best and creative endings, best music scores and music, and people. I miss him. He showed and brought us the world for years, food and drinks, and more, cultures from all around the world in our homes. No reservations, part's unknown, and one hour layover.
