Adapted from Conan Doyle novels 'The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle," and "The Adventure of the Empty House," Terror By Night follows Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and Watson (Nigel Bruce) aboard a train to Scotland, hired to protect the famous 'Jewel Of Rhodesia' Diamond. A murder occurs, the diamond is seemingly stolen, and the sleuths have to work together with the help or hindrance of Inspector Lestrade (Dennis Hoey) before the train reaches its destination.

I remember them playing these old Sherlock Homes movies with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce in the 1970s and '80s on KPIX Channel 5 in San Francisco very late at night. I liked them. This was back when the movie of the week was still a big thing and cable was something not many people had. But I remember those movies being in black and white.
