As a Brit & 70's child the BBC used to constantly broadcast these movies at 6pm on BBC2 in the early 80's. Powerfully nostalgic. It was these or Charlie Chan, Fu Manchu, et al.

They did so much, with so little. After all these years, is just a pleasure to watch.

The only thing I dislike about the Rathbone series is the American backers insisting that Watson was a fool and behaved like one.In the Conan Doyle stories recorded by Watson for publication in the strand magazine they were portrayed as equals not a silly double act.

Thank you for keeping the correct aspect ratio and not stretching it out to fit screen. So many ruin the picture that way.

Its wonderful how they colour and clean up these old movies & the audio seems much improved as well. I use to watch them on late night TV back in the 80's and they were in B&W. They were good then but much better now. They seem much closer to our time now. Not sure Woody Allen would agree as I remember him having a hissy fit back in the mid 80' when they started to colorize old films.

Looks marvellous in colour - really brings it to life. Renee Godfrey looks charming - so sad she died so young
