This guy is a BJJ black belt AND clearly more in shape and conditioned than his opponents. Plus that solid wrestling background is the cherry on top.

Ahh yes, the "anti BJJ and judo" techniques, also called BJJ and judo.

Awesome breakdown. Im getting older and it is inspiring to see an older dude still athletic enough to shoot single legs.

This is awesome. I would be in the masters division if I still competed lol. Gave that dream up 25 years ago! Coming from an old school mma background this is just awesome. Shows the power of folk style wrestling vs bjj. It was common to see that back in the late 90’s but the fs guys would get tapped early just through lack of experience. Now that there’s been a few decades of knowledge acquired it makes everyone up their game! So cool! Thank you for posting.

Beautiful thing about BJJ is that if it works, you can use it!

Impressive! He defeated Barbosinha. He would have a difficult time with a guard player.

Amazing channel concept (I say as a masters 3 BB who wants to compete more after injury).

And great topic for video, I love the idea of winning under BJJ rules with wrestling.

I love using my wrestling in Masters 6, I'm more of a Greco guy so I use those techniques, take down and smash :)

Wow! This is my exact style. When I get the take down and don't obtain side control, usually people will try to turtle and I will hang out on their backs for the rest of the round if needed. It was surprising to see someone else's strategy. It evolved for me out of having to do 40 minute nonstop gauntlets (with a fresh person every minute). I had to find a way to last and be dominant at the same time.

Ok this was interesting and different thank you. I grew up wrestling and I have doing bjj longer but I still have some habits from wrestling that i would like to take advantage of more in competition.

Funny, I say I had to teach myself anti-wrestling years ago to deal with grappling with wrestlers. It pays off to train with wrestlers.

He's a beast! He trains at Rodrigo Vaghi's gym here in St. Louis.

awesome to see an older guy still able to shoot for takedowns so powerfully and fluidly. A dream for most his age. Even if they once had the skill, many people who used to be able to do that aren't able to anymore because of accumulated injuries or not staying speedy and limber . I think some people just have better genetics for longevity.

Also, do you think his style tires out him faster than his opponents? I guess then they'd say that they'd win if the time limit were longer.
