takedowns in Flyweight: be like this
meanwhile in heavyweight: you hug the guy, you both fall down

This second fight was a masterpiece, the wrestling sprawling and grappling sequences were some of the best in the business

Somewhat ironic that this is from their second fight, as the first time an Olympic wrestler ran into this MMA fighter, he got stomped everywhere.

Cejudo's growth from the guy who failed to wrestle Chico Camus to what he became was an impressive leap.

I'll admit I've been biased against Cejudo for a while; never a big fan of him, personally... But damn this whole sequence is so technical from both guys - I love how they are both assessing and adjusting so fast on the fly

Cejudo is also an mma fighter, not just an Olympic wrestler

This is pretty high level wrestling. From the reactionary level change that began without the proper head movement, Cejudo's original shot didn't have much chance. Cejudo was in full clinch mode when he threw the knee, which allowed him to get chest on chest. He didn't actually take a lateral step with his right leg, instead his left hand on the hip allowed him to freeze DJ for a split second while he cut an angle. When he was on his knees and fully committed to the inside trip, he was already using his underhook to push DJ into the trip, and Cejudo simply used plan B to complete the takedown by essentially reverting back to a double leg finish. Super technical.

Breakdowns always make me realize that fighters are way more technical than I could've guessed

It's not just olimpic wrestler vs MMA fighter. It's olimpic golden medalist and UFC 2 divisions champion vs greatest MMA fighter ever

The transitions between takedowns from elite wrestlers are beautiful; nothing fancy, just smoothly shifting the attack plan.

You forgot when the mma fighter kneed the wrestler in the gut and proceeded to finish him off

thing of beauty, the way he flows seamlessly from the trip to the single leg
