Sir, in order to have a higher rate of fertilization of eggs, you should do the spawning in a small bowl with a little bit of water (this gives a higher chance of the sperm fertilizing the eggs and not just water) and when done place the bowl inside the aquarium.

Try to release eggs and milt in smaller container or bowl with little water and then spread milt from males over them and gently mix them using a clean feather . After a minute or so transfer the eggs to larger aquarium with air supply and adequate warm temperature 28 to 30 degrees Celsius and wait for hatchlings to come out . This method will end up in more number of fertilized eggs . And is done by all hatcheries commercial or research based . Hope it will help
