Repeated binges and restriction did cause weight gain for me. And that’s the issue with bingeing. Most of us don’t do it just once. It’s a pattern.

7:40 BINGO!! I’ve been waiting for this. So many people online say “a binge won’t make you gain weight/ruin all your progress” ok but... what if it eventually does? Then what? Thanks for covering this!

I think it’s really important to address the biological binge eating first because it can have such an impact on your brain and how you’re thinking. I was bingeing from under eating and over exercising and my thoughts and brain were so unclear and disordered I couldn’t think clearly. No matter how hard I tried to feel my feelings and work through why I might be emotionally eating, I really couldn’t even address that yet. I had to go all in and allow myself to eat what I wanted when I wanted all the time and gain weight. It took a few months but my head finally started to clear and I stopped 99.9% of my binge eating tendencies. Then, I was able to focus on my emotional eating...which was more over eating then bingeing by this point and now I’m focusing on differentiating my different variations of emotional eating and what I want to work on and what I don’t. ❤️

I've been surrounded by people with super unhealthy relationships with food all my life... half of them weigh 200+lbs and the other half are skinny diet nuts. I've been swinging from bingeing on food that I feel guilty for and dieting desperately since I was 14. Yesterday I ate over my usual calorie goal because I was still hungry and stopped when I was full and it was a revelation. Sounds like it should be simple, but when you were raised in an environment where no one was every happy with your choices, it feels complicated.

Loved this video! I used one of the mantras you talked about today, that brownie isn’t going to fix my bad mood. Today has been emotional and instead of binging on a bunch of Oreos, I ate 2 and was satisfied!!!

It’s been 2 weeks since starting intuitive eating. I’ve noticed the absence of the urge to binge. The physical and mental restriction being lifted has been a game changer.

I love that you posted this today! I met with my nutritionist and I’ve been putting in so much hard work in recovery and seeing the title make me just think to myself: how did I do this all the time? How did I binge so frequently???
I started working really hard to learn what fullness felt like again and now I’m able to stop eating when I’m satisfied. The eating regularly is a big part of stopping binging! It took 3 go arounds of treatment to finally have that click. That’s the biggest part that stopped the binging for me. Just eating multiple times a day, meals that made me feel good. Love this video, love the info, love what you do 💙

thanks for your insights about this topic. I agree there is a lot of bad advice out there that just skims the surface of the issue and doesn't address the real problem.

Do you have a video that is mostly about gentle nutrition? I think I get the basic concept but I need practical ideas of how to apply it. In one of you videos (I don't remember which one) you talk about wanting to eat some yogurt but it was fat-free so you added some cashews. That was a really good example of how you do gentle nutrition but I'd love to see more.

We are all created differently by God. This all makes so much more sense why it matters to invite the way we are--when you keep the Lord the center who made us all fearfully and wonderfully! We are His masterpiece. And no size will change out value.
