Im pretty sure Sephiroth is talking about himself there, like sheesh, dude must be pissed that Sora got in.
But in all seriousness, to those mad at Sora being the final character, he literally won the smash ballot and it was stated in an interview that if Sora wasn't obtained, the figher pass would've ended with Kazuya.
So sadly, this isn't even a debate, if you think Sora was a mistake and someone else should've gotten in, you're objectively wrong, since you wouldn't have that character you wanted, EITHER WAY!

They're right. I received the news of Sora with a less than stellar reaction. But it don't matter who you love or who you hate. Someone out there likes that character.

Sephiroth did spit facts at the end. After Sora got announced as the final fighter, Waluigi fans were so disappointed about that outcome by highlighting their expectations that Waluigi will be the final character for many years. After Sora's reveal, there were memes and videos about Sora slaughtering Waluigi throughout the internet which they are pretty funny imo.
