How to Colonize the Galaxy (Part 2)

In the future, humanity may colonize the entire galaxy. After exploring the solar system, we will travel to Proxima Centauri and with faster than light transportation (warp drives and wormholes), we will explore the entire galaxy. We will build Stanford Toruses, O'Neill Cylinders, Dyson Spheres, Ringworlds, Alderson disks, and other cosmic scale structures.

Given the immense resources required to get humans to our nearest stellar neighbour, would it not be better to genetically alter humans to survive the journey?

Since the best space traveller is a robot and one that can self replicate is the best coloniser, should we not consider that humans have no place amongst the stars, but perhaps a downloaded consciousness into an AI robot is the way we should be thinking about how to colonise the galaxy.
