I grew up in a hoarders home, it was so terrible. My mom would procrastinate all the time, I would have to stand and encourage her and help her through everyday tasks. Now that I am grown and have my own children, my house is very minimalist. My mom still lives in a hoard. I was robbed so much of a normal childhood because I couldn't have friends over or birthday parties. Now I'm proud to have a beautiful clean house and my children have their friends over anytime. Family should always come 1st!!!!

My sister is a hoarder. She had CPS called on her and had to go to therapy for her hoarding. My husband and I went to her house to make sure everything was clean. We had to install a new counter and sink for her. She fought with me about getting rid of Amazon boxes. 5 contractor bags worth of trash was pulled out of a 6 by 18 foot space. I wasn't gentle with her either. I forced her to throw stuff away or get rid of. I put things out on the curb with free signs on them. She's getting better but still has a hoarding habit.

My mother's sister is an extreme hoarder... She applied for the show and they said she had to clean a little before they could come because her house was so packed up that they wouldn't be able to walk with a camera crew in her house and guarantee their safety.... The county has tried multiple times to evict her because you can smell it from the street.. she would get ppl to help her just enough to where the county would think she will continue... Once they stopped watching... Back to normal.... They even threatened to have her removed and put in a care home, so they could just burn it down...

I was an extremely bad hoarder as a child. Like I couldn't even part with a molded sandwich when I was 3 that I hid under my bed. But my dad got cancer and had to be in a clean environment. I had to choose between my stuff or my dad's life. It was hard to let go of my things, but everytime my mom would say, "we are doing this for daddy" it made it easier. I could never understand loving the stuff more than my family
