Imagine having an actual disability, but losing your seat for the person who stuffed their face with junk food.

I am fat. I was 430 lbs and now 305. Still working on loosing weight and it is a challenge. What I can tell you from my perspective. Changing the rules to make my life more comfortable being fat is in my detriment. To loose weight you need to keep the motivation up and for me not been able to fit in a seat or needing belt extension make me embarrassed and motivates me to keep fight my weight and get better. Yes I have moments of depression but it won’t get better if the world changes around me. I need to change for my health and have a better quality of life.

I feel like this opens them up to potential law suits. Imagine losing out on thousands of dollars on a planned vacation because they kicked you out of a flight you paid for.

I am a disabled person and I got kicked off of a flight due to a 450lb woman needing my seat. The obese woman was super rude to me too, demanding I give my seat whilst waiting in the airport for her. Then yelling that I was a disrespectful brat when I said no as I suffer from severe dyspraxia. God. People are so entitled.

Airlines should not give any free seats for people who are large because it would be unfair to those who are trying to reserve a seat only to find out that seats aren’t available because of someone’s weight issues.

As a fat-ass myself, I feel that this is horrible in our society. I realise the health issues that I have, and know entirely well that if I choose to have this lifestyle, I am causing numerous struggles for myself in my own life. There is no way that a overweight person should believe that they are doing the right thing by saying that it's "what their body needs". It's not what the body needs, it's what the mind and your desires want. The body wants to be healthy, so why should you ignore that?

By airline companies giving free extra seats, they are supporting the fact that a person can be harm themselves. If you have a problem being able to fit seats that are made, in most cases, for the benefit of the person's ergonomics, then that might just be a problem with you. And this is coming from an obese individual themself.

I have a lot more free time on my hands, so please wish me luck, as I'm currently on my weight loss arc right now.

If you are kicked off of a flight so a person of size can have your seat, the airline should buy you a first class ticket of the airline of your choice.

I am disabled i use a cane … in 2023 my ticket was canceled because my seat was literally taken by a plus size passenger who demanded extra room and the plane was full I missed a funeral because of her. I hope you feel better about yourself.

If you can afford eating a meal that could feed a family of 5, 3 times a day, you can afford a second airline seat.

This is a massive problem. People book tickets for time-sensitive events, and FAMILIES can get screwed over. Instead of kicking out other customers, the plus-sized customer should be the one getting delayed *if* the other paying customer is unwilling to take a delay. I'd hate to need to fly for a funeral, wedding, business appointment, etc on Southwest because it can completely screw over plans. I'd hate to have to call family and explain "Hey, I can't make this wedding/funeral because I got kicked off the flight that we already paid for got taken by an overweight customer who didn't pre-purchase the ticket." I'd hate to have to call a BUSINESS APPOINTMENT and say that I'm delayed and can't make it due to losing my seat, and risk getting reamed by my boss because a deal fell through due to no fault of my own.

This angers me. I'm a big guy, 6'5 and 280 lbs. I have long legs. But I don't demand people give up their seats for extra room for me. I get over it because I'm an adult

It’s ridiculous to kick someone out who paid for their seat for someone else to isn’t going to pay for that seat. Their life choices aren’t a consequence everyone should suffer

So basically now it’s everyone’s problem that these people refuse to-exercise and eat healthy

If I get bumped from my seat/flight for someone who is obese (after purchasing my ticket first) I’d sue the airlines for discrimination!

Someone’s grandma could be in the hospital on the verge of death and they can’t go see her because someone else wanted two seats. What a shame.

Despicable to reward lazyness and lack of planning. They left a Woman with 2 teen girls in a different country than their destination because a plus size person could not plan ahead. That woman paid over 600$ to be treated like this? IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT OK. Paying customers should always come first!!! Gross!! These big companies need to quit pandering. I promise if regular people stop flying with them or demand the same special treatment they would not be able to continue with this bs. Ugh I hate the world more and more every day. Some peoplereally are just selfish and disgusting human beings.

Imagine not being able to board a plane just because a certain someone who lacks discipline thinks it's okay for everyone else to cater to their incompetency. People really need to relearn being humble and considerate to others. It's basic responsibility, something that entitled people who claim they're "strong and independent" do not have.
