For some reason, my instinct was cross products. I.e. pick any old vector not parallel to w, say (0, 0, 1) and cross with w to get a vector orthogonal to w, say v
then take w x v, which will be orthogonal to both.
we get v = (3, 1, 0), w x v = (-2, 6, 10)
Definitely overkill by a long shot, but at least mine are orthogonal ig...
