Cooper could've just stayed at home farming, been there to watch his kids and grandkids, and then died old, but instead he left earth on a suicide mission to save them. With his children resenting him because they think he just abandoned them.
Sometimes our parents do seemingly bad things to us for our own good, but the reason they do it comes from the deepest love that exists in the universe.

When you watch the movie again you realize that Cooper says "don't make me leave like this" and "don't let me leave" roughly at the same time on the two sides of the bookshelf. It somehow makes the scene at the beginning even more emotional.

This father-daughter story is by far the best parent-child fictional story I saw so far in my life and I've watched zillions of movies, tv shows, etc, party the reason why Interstellar is one of the best movies I've saw in my life, truly amazing.

In the world where Interstellar has 71% on RottenTomatoes while Star Wars The Force Awakens sits at 94% you kinda know those people you call critics have learned to criticize films they don't understand, while constantly praising films as unsophisticated as the autobots saga.

A crying scream from a father to his daughter saying”don’t let me leave”realizing that he’ll never see his child again, even when he traveled to time and space seeing things no one could ever imagine, that’s what makes this movie from fiction to a real feeling.
