Ive never bought a “plant grow light”. Ive been using the Amazon Brite White basic light bulbs you put in a normal house lamp/ceiling fixture.

Alocasias for sure. My Pink Dragon and Maharani's got sunburned in too much light. They are all off to the side of south facing windows and are doing very well there.

Yes the black velvet does great with lower light mine is away from the grow light & puts out big beautiful leaves

Good morning Ashley! I learned the hard way on the importance of grow lights. I've been using the two-strip grow light from Amazon ($20). Their doing its job but I want to see on the light bulbs next. I heard HausBright is really good. We shall see. Have a fantastic weekend.
