My mom is a master garden and has hundreds of names memorized in Latin, most of the time she really is speaking to me in a different language lol. Cool story, she reminds me a lot of my Mom. She has her own 40yr old collection from Rodale and Longwood and spends all day every day with her plants.

So totally awesome that she is doing this. Her business is also a repository for the rare species that she has so that if anything happens to the wild population she, and her customers, will have samples that can save the species. So much respect for all her hard work! <3

I see so many plants I can recognize from my last visit to eastern Nicaragua and trust me there’s nothing like seeing a monstera in its natural habitat climbing up a ceiba tree.

Rooting for her, turning a hobby into a business, and spending her days doing something she clearly loves doing. Sounds perfect!

I'm more into succulents and cacti now. You wouldn't believe how serious people get into it. Talk about substrates and somebody will start a fight in the comment section. It's a fun and supportive community but there's also lots of ego

I’m not a huge plant fan myself but I can appreciate how much passion someone can have over something that others may overlook and within that passion is a whole other world that only certain people see. So rad

definitely only looks glamorous on the outside lmao, i only have around 60 aroids and it takes me about 2 hours to tend to the whole lot with feeding, watering and dusting, not to mention when every free bit of space is flush with propagations in growing season. Definitely a labor of love haha

I never thought people would be so fascinated and so intellectual with plants that they know every proper hard to pronounce name of every plant lol and also type of every plant.

The pandemic resulted in astronomical prices for plants that were just a little pricey before. I hope it returns to prepandemic levels soon.
