France 20km from Canada 🤯🇫🇷

Did you know you can visit France in just 45 minutes from Canada?!

Saint-Pierre & Miquelon is a French Archipelago that’s just 20km south of Newfoundland. You can get here by flight which takes just 45 mins from St. John’s (you can also fly direct from other places including Montreal & Paris!), or by ferry which leaves from Fortune.

These islands are the last piece of French territory left here in North America, and they have the most charming French maritime vibe. While you’re here you’ll get to enjoy incredibly scenic views, historic sights, mouthwatering French cuisine, and yes, even French wines & cheeses.

Although its just 20km off the coast of Newfoundland, it is France. They use the euro here, speak French, use European outlets, and yes, you need your passport to visit!

This was one of the coolest places I’ve visited this year and you need to add it to your bucket list!

It has since been clarified to me that if you are a Canadian travelling from Canada by ferry, and visiting SPM for under 90 days, that a passport is not required. You will need a valid, registered photo government ID however. This may not be the same by flight so please always consult government websites yourself before travelling

I visited on Bastille Day and french guy was extremely rude to me telling me to speak French as I was in France. I laughed as the French are some of the rudest people on Earth. I should have said maybe you are still sore that the British beat France in hundred year war and every Navy Battle since. I Bet he doesn't speak French when he shops at Walmart when he shops in NL which they do all the time.
