Parasite Spoilers Will Follow!!

“Parasite” is taking over Hollywood this award season. It’s even a front runner for Best Picture at the Oscars. But Bong Joon-ho’s latest film isn’t just a dystopian nightmare--it’s an accurate representation of class struggle in South Korea. There’s an incredibly messed-up true story behind the Kims and the Parks. From the necessity of scams to the overwhelming amount of young people who want to leave South Korea for greener pastures, there are some pretty astonishing facts about South Korean society that make a film like “Parasite” all the more important. For starters, it can be incredibly hard just to find work in South Korea if you don’t already have connections and money...or if you just aren’t clean enough. Check out our video to see why a film like “Parasite” had to be made and what the horror on screen illustrates about actual wealth inequality in our world.

The announcer sounds like he doesn't realize that the gap between the rich and poor is a world wide issue.

This is like a grade six analysis of both the film and the issues it tackles.

His interpretation is inaccurate. This is a worldwide problem, not just Korea

When he talked about cleanliness, I just wanted to mention that lots of asian countries as a WHOLE take their shoes off in their homes and lots of east-asian schools change shoes. I know he was just trying to make a point in the story but the idea of taking off your shoes is a pretty wide spread idea.

So, your take away from this movie is how severe the gap between the rich and the poor in South Korea is??? hahaha silly boy!

As a Korean, I believe that the inequality in S. Korea feels much intensified because of unique social issues in S. Korea (degree inflation, competitive culture, etc); partially described in the movie. The new book called “South Korea: Price of Efficiency & Success” is great to read more about South Korea.

I stopped watching 5 seconds in when he mispronounced bong's name.

The Joon in Bong Joon Ho is pronounced as the month of June, not John as in the Gospel of John. Why are you even narrating pop culture news if you don't even follow them. Director Bong's name has been uttered all over the entertainment circuit. If you are not interested in this type of news, don't narrate them.

Instead of analyzing Korea population and etc. you should study more what this movie really portrays. Got bored listening to all the statistics instead of movie.

The stereotype with which western world reacts to anything and everything associated with asia, and africa is astonishing..but what puzzles me their hypocratical way to explain the things..a fictional ( may) story made entire Korea unethical, germ sticken and filthy. Also narrators tone presume that nothing such exists in their own backyards be it racism or class struggle. Also by the same logic I found almost everybody in US as greedy, elitist, blood sucker, chaotic, anarchist, megalomanic, warmonger and yes absolutely sick.... After watching JOCKER…!
And yes I am not even Korean.

If I was the tutor, first I would have masterfully tutored the girl. Afterwards I would have just said my sister is an art professor, and my dad has been a driver for 20+ years. Then that would be it. They got too greedy by bringing in the mom, The 3 of them could have made it work.

The picture that the little kid was drawing is the face of the guy who was hiding in the basement!

Great video, overall. But, (at 45 sec.) how can the guy pronounce Bong Joon Ho as Bong John Who?
