Hundreds Of Ukrainian Fighters Evacuated From Mariupol

Ukraine says more than 260 fighters were evacuated from the besieged Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol. Many of the wounded were taken to areas held by Russia-backed separatists on May 16. The evacuation marked the end of the months-long Russian siege of the strategic port city, now in ruins.

In many ways this is just like Tobruk, the defenders held up the advance beyond what was seen as a feasible period, tied up Russian forces, cost the Russian Army dearly, and is just a symbolic victory for Russia. They planned to take capital in couple of days, instead they spent three months to take Mariupol and no one could ask more from these fighters - a stunning performance buying time.

"Evacuated" my ass, they just got transported to DPR controlled territory by the Russians and are being filtered extensively. The Azov are now in their hands and not Ukrainians, and prisoner exchange doesn't mean it will include Azov members, the ones that DPR wanted to punish the most.
