Fast and Furious Gorilla Brother Chase

*Gorilla Lope has been outside for nearly the entire afternoon, keeping his distance from his father, the silverback.* They haven't fought, but there seems to be an unspoken understanding that it's time for Lope to move on. As a result, Lope does his best to avoid his father. I believe the Twycross staff has made the right decision, despite how difficult it is, and we will miss Lope tremendously when the time comes.
I rescheduled this video for the past 4 weeks because I felt it was more important to show Lope in his new bachelor pad first. This footage was captured a couple of weeks before his move.

He had a playful chase with his younger brother Shufai. Both of them are near the slope. Shufai beats his chest, initiating the race. Lope starts a bit slowly, giving Shufai a head start. In his typical fashion, Lope slides down the slope on his belly. However, he still can't catch up to Shufai.

As they run towards the back, I change my position. They find themselves opposite each other again, and this time, Lope is the one to start running. He beats his chest at his brother, and both of them puff up their chests. Shufai climbs up the climbing frame, while Lope puts a hessian sack on his head. Shufai comes back down, and they move off together. I catch up with them again on the other slope. Once more facing each other, Lope still has his hessian sack. Suddenly, Shufai jumps, beats his chest, and runs toward Lope. After looking at his younger brother and putting on the hessian sack, Lope holds it in place with his mouth and runs away, inviting his brother to chase him. Shufai slows down, and instead of chasing, starts rolling around. As Lope sits in the grass with his hessian sack, Shufai beats his chest once more, runs away, and keeps looking back, signalling for Lope to pursue him.

At the base of the waterfall rocks, Shufai's wish comes true as Lope chases him again. They take a short break by the climbing frame. Lope sits at the bottom on the wood wool, while Shufai is up top on the log. It doesn't take long for Lope to make a quick attempt to grab his brother. Although Shufai manages to escape and climbs to the top, he soon gets bored and encourages his brother to play once more with another chest beat. Lope gets up from the wood wool and sits by the log. Shufai waves the hose, luring Lope, who swiftly climbs up. It's wonderful to see Lope move so quickly, despite his muscular frame. They chase each other down the slope on the other side. By the time I start moving, they are back to chasing each other by the frame. They're definitely keeping me on my toes today. Another chase begins. Shufai hides by the hut as Lope descends the frame and climbs to the top of the hut. However, he's not going after his brother; he just wants a quick snack before lying down. A couple of minutes later, Shufai joins Lope at the bottom. They engage in a playful tussle, taking breaks in between. I'll miss those playful moments when Lope leaves. I couldn't help but smile when Lope started pinching his brother's bum. He then twisted Shufai's arm and playfully bit his hand. After all that, Shufai takes a rest, with one leg up on the log, but the fun isn't over yet. Lope returns for another playful scuffle.
Later, Lope is eating by the hut, and Shufai peeks around the back before ending the video with a close-up of Lope.

I went to Twycross Zoo on Saturday and was amazed at how big Lope is now. It's sad that he's been moved, but I suppose we all have to grow up and leave home at some point. He does look gorgeous and healthy. Hopefully it won't be long until he moves again, and gets some other bachelors to have fun with. I'll miss him though 😢

I know the brothers miss each other. Thinking of that made me cry. I can't help but think when Shufai although he is neutered will his Daddy react the same to him when he reaches the age Lope is now. I can't help but think so much was taken away from Shufai when he was neutered. Will he always be welcome in his family? I love this family and always will. They will always have a place in my heart. I used to watch lope and shufai alott infact this whole family but then i got busy in studies and stuff...today, suddenly I remembered lope and immediately came to check upon him
