Have always appreciated your lectures. One question though, I don't believe fatty acids can be run through gluconeogenesis in any way. It's only the glycerol that can be run through. You said that some fatty acids can be used in gluconeogenesis? Is that true and if so which ones?

What's the possibility of covid19 damaging the pancreatic exocrine tissue in a cytokine storm? In your talk on long term covid suffers recently, you pointed out that the insulin producing cells in the pancreas can be damaged causing type one diabetes. Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency may not be immediately life threatening, but could be difficult to diagnose and cause serious digestive and malnutrition symptoms.

Sir what about gamma and delta cells associated with endocrine pancreas

So, if the immune system kills the beta, we are left with the alpha ? I'm asking because, since I'm type 1, why would I go in hypo. Alpha should produce Glucagon, no ?

This is a long shot Dr, but I don't suppose you know why Glucagon doesn't work so well in t1 diabetes even though it's the beta cells that are destroyed? I was reading that alpha cell function isn't so good after a year of progressive beta cell loss and I don't understand why. Thanks (mum of a 6 yo t1 diabetic)
