This is probably the most useful video on the difference between the two. Thank you very much for demonstrating the difference so effectively.

I understand why people like glossy. When I tried both next to each other, the glossy pops more and the blacks seem deeper. But as soon as I view actual photos or films on the screens, there is no such thing as true black in real life, and the tiny bit of loss of contrast on the nano texture just disappeared, and it just looked more real to me because the screen texture almost seems to disappear, whereas there's always reflection on the glossy to let you know that it's a screen. I ended up buying nano texture. I like it.

You always do excellent reviews with so many details enclosed with. However this current review for the nano texture along with other reviewers on YouTube seem to only focus on the reflection things, which it doesn’t report the overall situation I am afraid. I have seen the nanotexture MacBook myself and I have serious challenges to understand why this option can be considered. The colours are so washed out and the black seems greyish ...I still am not sure why a professional photographer or a video editor should choose the nano texture option...just because of the reflection?? Really....??

Still deciding between the two. Eye strain on nano vs glossy? Best for movies which one? Best for video editing? Is it easy to clean? Thank you, please reply it’s an important decision

great review-i have the MacBook Pro 16 glossy which I picked up a few days ago and primarily use it for watching movies - I have a week or so to return it and trade it for the nano texture and was wondering your thoughts in comparing the two for movie watching . The salesman at Apple convinced me to go with the glossy as he said I will lose some vibrancy with the nano texture. - For whatever reason, thus far, I have a bit of eye strain in watching movies on the glossy version- maybe it's my eyes- what are your thoughts please?

Make it look good on a matte and it will transfer well to glossy displays, but not in reverse. Thanks for this important insight!

I went to apple store today. They have bright ceiling lights to light the store. Right away i could see the reflection off the glossy screen where the nano I had too look for it. For my uses being outside/in the car while working the nano is 100% choice for me.

I tried both next to each other with exact the same settinsga the same images. The glossy showed much more colors, more deatiled colors and differentiated muich better between different color gradings. A dog in brown with white areas or white clouds on blue sky. The nanotex was not taht clear and the dog missed several white areas and the clouds came with less structure and more blurry white. I would love to have less reflections but as i work with images, I need to see all colors and all details which was not possible with nanotex

i have a m4 macbook pro max and its a nano display. there is some white specks that appear from time to time. is tis normal . it goes way if you clean it but reminds me of gloss screen reflective coating . isnt it supposed to be etched and not coated ( the screen)

Hey, first time here viewing the best video on glossy vs mate displays on the internet right now!
I do have a question, though, last time I checked nano-texture on the Apple Pro display, the texture really made the image grainy, so much so that when looking closeup, it seemed like those mate smartphone screen protectors, you know what I mean... How is this new nano-texture looking compared to the old XDR Pro display? Does it still have the grainy texture or is it much finer, on par with other mate displays out there?

Thanks!

Thanks as always, Art. I looked at both at the Apple Store. I didn't like nano-texture because it adds visible grain to the white parts of the image, like SDR and HDR highlights. I didn't like this at all because I felt I wouldn't be able to judge the graininess of the photo. I need to see grain accurately so I can decide whether to add or remove it in the edit. The glossy display is ultraclear and let's me see the grain without obstacles. I'm happy with the glossy display on my M3 MBP for this reason. Beside this the color, contrast and sharpness looked great on the nano-texture, no worse than the glossy. I think Apple did a great job.

Great video! I have ordered the Macbook Pro 16 Nano Texture, but I didn't have the opportunity to test it, in my country they only arrived with glossy panel. Now i know i made the right decision to order the version with Nano Texture display. 👌

Very informative as always, thanks for the comparison. I’ll be buying the nano texture screen.

You could argue that most people will be viewing the end result on a glossy screen; being a phone, you'd probably not need to worry about this too much. I would guess that when it comes to printing that the matte display will be way closer to the physical print.

I am not a photographer but the Nano Texture is much more pleasant to my (old) eyes

I come from a cheap matte Lenovo so I ordered the glossy M4 since I remembered them looking miles better.

I dismissed other comparisons but now after seeing yours I think I should have gone for the matte option (I don't do color/media work but I'll be seeing my own reflection and the wall behind me while reading for hours).

This is easily the best video about the NT displays, thank you for comparing it to other matte display, different light sources, and your own opinions regarding contrast, saturation and sharpness

outstanding video. thank you! If someone used their MacBook Pro indoors, would there still be a benefit from the nano-texture screen? I've read there's a trade off in terms of diminished visibility/sharpness of text. I wonder what your thoughts on that are? Again, really great presentation. thx
