just finished this build with only an electric screwdriver, hand saw, and staple gun. looks great! and I used aluminum instead of steel for the legs.

I recommend using landscape fabric instead of the plastic. It is durable, holds dirt in. Lets water drain out. And maybe extra oxygen for the plant roots

Great job! Looks nice and clean.
Just one tip for the metal cutting you did. When making straight cuts the blade will last 5-10x as long if you cut the angle with both ends facing down and the center/v facing up.

Cutting the way you did I get 30-50 cuts. With the v facing up I get 100+

Master Gardner, GREAT PROGRAM!!!! My dad was a primary organizer and instructor, he was a University of Idaho County Extension Educator and my mother was a "Master" Master Gardner and one of the 1st one's in our area. One suggestion for angle iron is to break down an old metal bed frame, which you can get pretty cheap at thrift stores or just find free, and you have a very inexpensive building material. Lastly, my personal recommendation is to use a higher grade weed fabric instead of plastic. But that's just me. Nice build!

Very nice!! now I'll go to look for videos that show me how to DIY a nice wood planter that does not need so much sophisticated tools.

Just made this as a gift for my mom for Mother's Day. Came out great! Thanks for the video and plans, they were very easy to follow. My only feedback would be to include a brief explanation on how you would make these without some of the more expensive tools. Keep it up!

Filter Fabric might have been a better option than the plastic. If you buy the right kind it will last 15+ years and is porous enough to allow proper drainage without losing any soil at all out the bottom of the box.

Built three of these last year for my backyard gardening. I did not know to add a plastic drop cloth to retain moisture, so didn't do very well. Will try again this year a bit better informed thanks to this video!

Nice design. As I have been assembling, I have discovered for me that the steel corner leg holes cannot match same on both sides or the screws will intersect with each other, so I will need to offset vertical distance of holes on the alternate side. I am using 2x6 recycled cedar lumber and also slightly thicker screws. When completed, I will will be happy with the results.

I built this planter box this weekend thanks to your video. I was surprised how long it took! Basically took me 8 hours to build one long 9' box. Next weekend I will build another one a little bit faster! It was my first time working with steel it was super fun!

Gorgeous... You make it look so easy. I am in awe of men or women who work comfortably with tools.
