Should you remove the labels from your M.2 SSD? #shorts

I often see people asking, should you remove the labels from your M.2 SSD and there are even videos on YouTube showing how to do it. But should you actually do that?

It's tempting to think, that the labels on an SSD could work as a heat-barrier or even a heattrap. So in theory removing them makes sense. But there is much more purpose to these labels than most people know.

If you are adding a heatsink to your M.2 SSD, pay attention to what the label is made of. Some M.2 SSDs use paper/plastic labels which will not conduct heat to your heatsink. They should be removed but that may affect your warranty.

Great. But the wd black nvme has just a thin black plastic label. Hopefully it stays nice under my asus x570 heat sink.

Really wish manufacturers made it more clear. Sabrent is easy...the "sticker" is very obviously copper in their case, so leaving it on is an easy decision. But Western Digital uses what appears to be a paper/plastic sticker so it's not nearly such an obvious decision.

Soooo then is it like 100% a mistake to take it off? Even if you are putting thermal pads on it before putting it in a heatsink?

I have 3 M.2 slots but I only have to use 1. Do I need to remove all the protective films of all 3 heatsinks?

Quick question. Should I remove the pastic from the pads on all my m.2 heatsinks even if only using one slot. I'm guessing yes they all have to be removed but if I want to insert another m.2 ssd down the line and the plastic has been removed from the pad that I want to install it with, will the pad work as effectively
