I absolutely love how Gandalf lead Minas Tirith in it's darkest hour. Imagine being those soldiers, seeing that huge army coming for you, getting no good orders from the leader of city and overall expecting defeat, and then a fucking wizard of hope comes up and tells you how to fight this war. It must have really boosted morale to see Gandalf among your ranks.

"Aim for the trolls kill the trolls!"

Gandalf and the gang would have a field day on the internet.

3:29 You cut out Gandalf's badass battle line!
“You are soldiers of Gondor! No matter what comes through those gates you will stand your ground!”
🔥🔥🔥

All the training, the training with different weapons, the preparation for the battle of Minas Tirith, the chance to look the enemy in the eye ... All this was ruined because of a single misstep.
You fell off the tower before you even drew your sword.
Rest in peace, unknown orc ...

Love the moment when the trolls burst through the gate. Gandalf allows himself a moment to let in his fear and terror. Just a moment. Then goes straight bravely back into battle. The small moments are what make this the best movie trilogy.

Mad respect for the Chad Gondorian at 3:47, introducing that orc to the ground with his spear

Can’t believe the amount of times I’ve seen this film and never noticed the Easterlings fighting with the Orcs around the 3:41 mark 😱

Love how the archers stayed behind and were still firing their arrows

Gondorians are descendants of Numenor and the best Men could offer.

Also tries to destroy siege towers with arrows.

For those who watched the trilogy from the beginning know the ferocity and toughness of a single naked cave troll. When this scene happened and you see a group of them in formation and covered in armor, you couldn’t help but to think “Oh shiz!” Like the expression on Gandalf’s face. I love these movies so much.

4:34 that chant they roar when they charge into the castle made it even more epic

Is there ever going to be a movie as epic as this one?

4:34 this scene still haunts me. It’s no wonder men like Denethor and even Theoden, for a moment, gave into despair. Such unrelenting hate. Such unquenchable violence. Through every servant, from lowly goblins and foul men to the Nazghul themselves, none were safe from the reach and gaze of the Lord of the Rings

Greatest trilogy of all time and the greatest battle you'll ever see on screen. So much despair, so much heroism. And the charge of the Rohirrim is still so beautiful and epic! I can't believe these movies are 20 years old, forever timeless!

The dude spearing an orc at 3:46 and the dude pinning an orc against a wall at 5:04 are my heroes

It’s weird, as a child I looked at these battles and thought things like “whoa! That’s so awesome!” And now as an adult I look at what came rushing towards the men, and I feel their dread and terror. Thinking about how many of them died is horrific, most of those men did not die mercifully to a blade, but were slowly killed by hungry Orcs and trolls as they were overrun. Such a sad and horrifying thing to realize 😥

At 4:35 those soldiers above the gate and in those towers be like: let's just lock the door and stay here.

What I also love about these movies is the realism of how battles actually would have taken place. You see this battle is drawn out for DAYS & it's not just 15 minutes and it's all done.
By the end of the film you feel just as exhausted as the soldiers probably are. Just beautifully done in every way.
