It's a shame nobody ever values Eomer. The guy downed 2 Olliphants with 1 spear!!

It always bugged me that Gimli isn't given more hero moments in the movies. In the book, he was every bit Legolas' equal as a warrior, and even Aragorn marveled at his ax skills.

"I am no man" gives me chills every time. Eowyn is a bad ass hero and deserves number 1 spot

Thor should learn from Aragon: always aim at the head!

"I guess that concludes negotiations." Classic.

I agree with all of those except #4. As awesome as Legolas was sliding down those stairs, it doesn't top Gandalf killing the Balrog.

I was kind of expecting Boromir to be on here. His death changed the trajectory of the entire series and was extremely memorable.

"I am no man!" Was the beginning of the super heroine uprising. It wasn't started by Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel. It started with Éowyn!

1:35 Aragorn gets it all. Frodo carried the ring - if they really captured him they would have known why Frodo was so important to them

0:44: that smile is legendary. Sauron hired the right guy to be his Mouth.

The sword with which Merry was armed came from the Barrow Downs near the Shire. It was an armament of the Witch King's ancient enemies, one of the only things that could harm him in all Middle Earth. Merry wounding him with it allowed Eowyn to finish him.

In the book she says, "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him."

Which, for the first time in perhaps a thousand years, gave the witch king a moment of pause and self doubt. He knew well the prophesy, and here before him was one who could technically fulfill it. He had no idea the one beneath his notice was also one who could fulfill the prophesy, and he with a dagger specifically made for the job.

The most epic coincidence of all fantasy writing.

It's so sad that Amazon is taking a huge steamy shit on Tolkien's work.

3:29 when he hits away the blade with his sword it was actually supposed to miss him but the actor just randomly hit it away and they left it in as it looked badass

Eowyn's scene is much better in the book. In the film, she declares "I am no man" only *after* Merry stabbed the Witch King with the enchanted blade. But in the book, she reveals her identity as a woman and stands strong *before the battle*, even when it seemed she could not possibly win. The way it was written in the book makes Eowyn seem much more admirable/courageous.
