Installing Linux Mint on Lenovo Ideapad with AMD GPU

Getting all hardware working for the Lenovo ideapad 530S-14ARR
If you're using Ubuntu 18.10 you only need step 1.

1. WiFi

2. Graphics

3. Trackpad
sudo apt install git
cd i2c-amd-mp2

I had no idea about legacy booting. Every other linux Mint install videos kept recommending "UEFI" and I kept getting black screen.

When Mint and Fedora won't install. Use Endless OS or Mageia 7 or later. I have a Lenovo Ideapad 320 IAP and those are the only ones with installers good enough to forgive an exotic and non-cooperative BIOS. For Mageia you must turn off secureboot.

i just spanked a lenova ideapad 114 by putting linux on it but also getting it to boot up and running and its not by doing what you say in the video i changed one setting in bios that was intel platform trust technology which i disabled in security everything is running touchpad wifi no problems what so ever

Hello sir, your tutorial was Gold for a while because I finally could install Linux Mint. Everything went perfectly until the end of the installation, but after the reboot I entered my password and the screen went black. It turns on normally until I enter my password. My Lenovo Ideapad is 130 15 AST. Could you please give me some advise?

Damn, thanks for the video, it's really helpfull know how to configure and avoid bill gates tricks to avoid users leave win10 as the intelligence system it is (not intelligent, if you know what i mean). Right know i'm trying to install ubuntu, but having this error "the ejecution of "grub-install/dev/sda" failed. This is a fatal error" when installing and can't do anything about it, trying to configure as you did it and looking for whole internet to solve it.

Truly hard for the newbies like me found an error every corner installing linux, wish this had a easiest way in order to gain more users... and more freedom for all.

Well I have Lenevo G570 with AMD Radeo Graphics.

It doesn't supports linux at all... And I am pretty sure this won't work either

Edit:- Just now checked the BIOS in BOOT menu you can only change the boot order

And yeah I saw there was graphics mode in configuration menu. Which you can change to UMA graphics

uEFI secure boot has been around for a while and works correctly. Do yourself a favor, and keep it enabled.
